@GomeowCreations4 жыл бұрын
If you are planning on soldering and getting the skills need for working with silver in the future you shouldn't use aluminum. I would get some copper and start with that seeing that it is a lot cheaper. If you try and solder aluminum using a torch it will just melt before the solder does.

@GomeowCreations4 жыл бұрын
It is best to have a different one for each metal. This is because little bits of metal will stay behind in the crucible and they with mix with other metals that you add to it

Why pickle after annealing, if you'll be annealing again before soldering? I am unsure about when to pickle. Which is a fairly funny sentence taken out of context, but true non the less. Not trying to criticize what you're doing, just wanting to understand why you're doing it.
@GomeowCreations2 жыл бұрын
I do it any time I heat the metal or use flux to clean it off. If you have any spots that have oxidation than the solder will not flow or stick. Seeing that I was twisting the metal I didn't want to risk that.

@@4nbop80user how does a rolling mill and scrap metal wire have anything to do with one another?
@4nbop80user3 ай бұрын
@@tommyreimrock8667 First, scrap can be rolled into longer pieces so you can reuse some of it. Second, smelt remaining scrap either on a charcoal block (or make balls that way), in a charcoal or China crucible, pour into an ingot block and then use the resulting ingot to produce sheet or wire with your rolling mill. There are plenty of videos. I love the Indian ones. At the start of every gold/silversmithing video you’ll get to see the process from start to finish. They don’t buy wire or sheet and make everything according to the need of the day.
