Abandoned cars, houses, cabins, farms, we've seen it all, but this time we sensed that something was wrong and that the owner was either deceased and still inside the tent, or was otherwise in need of help.

Getting out on the road is what Linda and I love to do with our converted cargo trailer camper. We're part time nomads and the nomadic lifestyle suits us to a Tee. Whether your RV is a camper van, camp trailer, travel trailer, motorhome or just a car and a tent, there's going to be something interesting for you in the videos we produce. Back roads and overlanding are part of what we do while exploring the western states for beautiful, peaceful and sometimes remote places to camp on BLM and National Forest land (public land). Taking care of ourselves as much as possible and doing our own repairs is a must because we travel on a fixed income and a limited budget. If you're into being off-grid and boondocking or doing dispersed camping whenever possible then you'll appreciate the discussions on batteries, solar panels and solar chargers or power stations and 12v refrigeration. Some folks are commenting that we should have called the Sheriff right away, but it's not unusual for a camp to be unoccupied for a few days or even a week, because some people set up a camp and only come back on the weekends. After that we got worried and called the Sheriff THREE TIMES! But they never showed up. It's then that we went into the tent ourselves and found the name that we gave to the Sheriff which finally got them to send someone out to inspect and make the proper calls. By the way, Shane is ok and he thanked us for watching out for his things until his friends could show up to retrieve them.

You guys did the right thing. You weren't snooping or looting just genuinely concerned. Most times the police won't show up unless there's a body cuz they're just crime janitors. We need to take matters into our own hands and stop relying on the police for "safety and protection". They only protect themselves.

20 Years ago, our son was camping in the Uinta Mountains in Utah. There was another tent in the area that similarly appeared abandoned. Finally, my son and his friend went to investigate and caught a whiff of decay. They called the sheriff who investigated and found the camper was deceased in the tent. The sheriff estimated they'd been there for 3-4 weeks. I'm so glad this one turned out differently.

I once got ill on an over night camp. I was well enough to hike out, but might not have been if I'd stayed. Felt to weak to carry much so only carried out about half my gear and left the rest zipped inside my tent. I'd recoverd enough by the next afternoon to hike back out... A few day walkers coming back had seen my tent and apologized for looking inside to make sure the occupant was ok. No apology needed! We have to look after each other out there.

Very glad to hear that somebody was able to track him down. As I was watching this, I was worried he might have expired in his sleep inside the tent, or maybe had an accident out on a hike and was expired on a trail somewhere. This is why someone should always know where you are and expect to hear you check in every few days.

Having a life as a sojourner on this messed-up rock I don't belong to, 3 failed marriages, ... life changing accidents x 2, injury to my spinal cord and lumbar nerve roots, made so much worse by a failed surgery, 16 plus years suffering pain levels, only terminal cancer patients know 9f, or if like me in the rare, less 10,000 patients around the world suffer, the results of what my past surgery did to me.. an ever evolving spinal cord and nerve roots injuries have and do try to take me down, but every day, press on. If this would give you an idea of how great the pain, I'm at a typical level of 7+ right now, while taking the equivalent of 500mg morphine sulfate, it's an experimental drug, of so powerful , that the dose is 1200mcg daily.. still wanting to scream on a regular basis, pit this way, just passed a 3 to 3.5mm kidney stone, causing the tract to bleed.. didn't feel it until after it had been passed.. messed up is an understatement...onward... (just do you know, but not that I give a rat's @ss, for whatever judgmental attitude some people have and state just as they're talking out their toothless wonder, know this if you do have a premadonna attitude, life can change and test your metal in an instant! ..so those who already made a unloving comment, either make an apology, or go piss up a rope against the wind, as well, be very careful about what you state, again, life can and does turn inside out in a second!) 1st marriage, adultress that I couldn't find a way to trust again = divorce.. 2nd, I've never understood, two weeks into our marriage she was homesick and so got her a plane ticket, she didn't call to tell me all was fine, but I called tge second day and her comment was that she felt she was just infatuated = divorce.. 3rd, still shredded heart, 25 years later after divorce, she'd alienated me from our two children, (I've never had even a misdemeanor, but CA courts, well, I hope you never get divorced in California, all one sided to the woman, no matter how bi-polar the woman is, I could have pressed charges on her, the abuse was most every day, both physically and mentally, so thought for the two youngins' best that one of us left for awhile, (me) , tried to get her to go to Therapy, nope she's perfect, I don't make enough money! Alas, life on a path less traveled sucks! All that to provide a bit of background, so to comprehend, I've has to start over from little to nothing 5 times. Homeless 3 of those times, yet due to good friends, didn't go without, just tough to be under the roof of someone's house, especially being an independent type, so, some 25 years later, never married again, figured 3 strikes, I'm done with that nonsensical game. And yet again; all this just to say, it's only those who have a strong will, a courage few comprehend, a plight due to Nanyang facets that cause these things like living in a tent, getting ruined by a corporate party, divorce taking everything from a person, (the laws so unjust), ..so my complete heartfelt regards to you who are living in an exponentially difficult situation, I wish it were otherwise.. being severely disabled, I'm facing financial difficulties myself, but, i live in my own house, and can do naught but thank God, as I do know, ot cam always be worse! Kudos to you for kicking back and enduring this messed-up world, few could endure what they're so quick to judge others about! If ever in the mid Michigan sticks, try to find a way to reach out.. One way without giving away to the multitudes, you could try to leave a comment on this y t channel; Barry Scarbrough .. I'm one of the mods, so see comments and responses to deal with at times.. The very best advice I could give, is that if not yet saved in Christ Jesus, do so! Now, make it to the easy life as a child of God Almighty in Christ Jesus, two sites for you: www.jdfarag.org on this site, pastor JD is an excellent resource for the things going on today, as pertaining to end time prophecy.. as well as the ABC's of salvation.. Then this site has free access to the Holy Word of God, (Bible) if never read, I'd recommend the Book of Revelation, then John.. What's going on, what is soon to be happening, the Apostle John, how much God loves you! www.biblegateway.com I truly feel for you, and most all in such humble situations.. best wishes and kind loving regards, as well, just spoken prayer for you! Be well.

I watch a lot of urban exploration on KZbin and they always leave things and never take items, or post locations of where they are to protect assets and property. Although this isn’t exactly “urbanex” video on KZbin it does show how concerned you and your friend Will were with this site and determined to find answers. God bless you and your wife, friends and community down there. I would want you watching over my camp too if I got lost or hurt!!!

Nothing better than a good neighbor! ESPECIALLY when in unfamiliar territory, and only a tent for shelter. Really fortunate Shane had new/good equipment. If it was old like mine, it may have been presumed abandoned.

@@gonagain hey Thank You my kindly new friend I enjoyed your acts of decency. I drove across the Sonoran desert only a few days ago and I was moved to see people here and there camping out in that vastness, enjoying the land. Now I find there is a community who looks out for each other. Together, we are better.

We try to build community on the road for ourselves the safety of others. It’s always a dance between respect for privacy while keeping everybody safe. I use a safety buddies when I’m alone, who regularly receives location pins from me. We always have to be mindful that sometimes Seldom Seen Slim does not want to be found .
