I love this movie. It’s a true homage to the 1974 original movie. In the original the mustang was also called “Eleanor”. These two movies have cemented that name into automotive history to the point that people that have never even seen either movie still refer to the ‘67 Shelby Mustang as Eleanor. And they don’t even know why.

@@ct6852 HELL YEAH!!! Well...if you were around in '74, it was VERY well known - if you lived in L.A. it originally had a very limited release, but once it gained popularity, it went to more theaters.

@@ct6852 , I’d say it’s well known among car and film enthusiasts with a leaning towards action and cars. The original has a 40 minute car chase which is one of the longest ever filmed. The movie Bullit with Steve McQueen is another well known example of superb car chases and phenomenal cars. The hero car is a ‘68 Mustang and the villain car is a ‘68 Charger R/T.

Cage's earliest nd latest work is SO different. He was an indie darling, appearing in strange and low-budget stuff for people that later became megastars. Thrillers, noir, offbeat comedy, romances, he did all sorts of varied roles. He pigeonholed himself and basically did impressions of himself for a while, and then he's back with a vengeance with stuff like Mandy and The Unberarable Weight. Even if you think he's an asshole, he's got undeniable talent.

The original 1974 movie was a self produced film by H.B. Halicki who also did a lot of the stunts. Sadly he died in a car stunt while making what would be his own sequel to this film. I liked the simple approach of the original where essentially half the film was one big car chase.

Saw the original in the theater. No big stars. The cars were the stars. That last car chase is so much better than the remake. No quick cuts. They gave you time to see the cars and stunt drivers. That last jump is shown mutiple times from different angles. BTW, Halicki's 1982 film Junkman beat The Blues Brothers record for most wrecked cars in a film. That record stood until Transformers: Dark of the Moon (which I'm not sure I believe because a lot of those had to be CG)

Also, if you wanna see a relatively young Robert Duvall, watch To Kill a Mockingbird. He plays Boo Radley. He was 31 and it was his first movie. He was a stage actor in New York for a decade prior to his film career. Also, no that's not the car from Ford Vs. Ferrari. That was a Ford GT. But that Mustang the Shelby GT 500 was designed by the same guy, Carol Shelby, that was played by Matt Damon. Also the year this came out, a brand new Mustang GT was only $22,900. A porsche 911 Convertible was 87 thousand to give you perspective on car costs back then.

This movie was so bad, it was gone from the theaters in 60 seconds. The only thing that's watchable are the cool cars. Also Nicholas Cage is really Nicholas Coppola, nephew of the Famous director Francis Ford Coppola, who directed The Godfather Part 1 and 2, & Apocalypse Now. He was an A-List actor who got into serious financial trouble because he owned 15 multi million dollar estates and was in arears paying the taxes. When the real estate market crashed back in 2009, he fell 14 million into debt. So he began to have to do a ton of B list movies in order to get out of debt. He is finally out of debt and has vowed to go back to making better quality films. He won an Oscar for Best Actor for his performance in Leaving Las Vegas in 1996. He was nominated again in 2003 for Adaptation, but lost out to Adrian Brody who starred in the pianist.

There were quite a few "Eleanors" built for this movie, each to serve different purposes (handling, acceleration, one with a camera rig to shoot Cage driving in the car, one for the crushing scene which was just a non functional shell, & a "hero" car for looks). They also built one for producer Jerry Bruckheimer that was a barely street legal Eleanor. According to Bruckheimer, when he started it up, it shook the walls & roof of the warehouse it was in, he said he was scared to drive it. I'm sure that Cage also got an Eleanor as he is a huge car guy. But there wasn't just one Eleanor.

The car in Ford V Ferrari was a Ford GT40, Eleanor is a GT500, but they are both beautiful examples of performance engineering. Even if you don't really care about cars, when you get to the speeds of those cars and the forces they endure, you can appreciate that it's about making something really special - just look at the bodywork, the shapes are so carefully designed and manufactured, it's like an art piece.

@Popcorn_in_Bed Eleanor is a 1967 Ford Mustang that was modified by Carroll Shelby's company. The A/C Cobra and the GT40 were the cars he was famous for building (the former being the little 2-seater convertible you see Damon driving around in and the latter being the main race car in "Ford vs. Ferrari"), but Shelby modified A LOT of Ford Mustangs (and his company still does even today though he has since passed away - their facility is in Las Vegas near the airport right next to the freeway). All of the cars Shelby built had Ford engines in them though, which is why he worked so closely with Ford. Don't know if you have watched the 1968 movie "Bullitt" with Steve McQueen yet, but it has a 1968 normal Mustang (not modified by Shelby). However Steve McQueen and Carroll Shelby were good friends since they were both big muscle car & racing car enthusiasts. In fact Steve McQueen was in the movie "LeMans" as a race car driver about the famous race that Shelby raced in real life. There's several pictures of them together on the internet. McQueen's granddaughter Molly (who was born after Steve died) is an actress like her grandpa and has also been a spokesmodel for Ford, especially because Ford has released new Mustangs that are "Bullitt" green like in the movie. She's married to the brother of Jon Favreau (aka "Happy Hogan" from all the Marvel superhero movies).

Even a lot of the bit players went on to do a lot of good stuff. The cholo gangster was played by the guy who played Louise in the Ant-Man movies. Even the head surgeon from Scrubs makes an appearance.

@@alaneskew2664 Agreed. James Duval was funny ("People gotta eat, right?") and Carmen Argenziano as Detective Mayhew was convincing as a homicide detective trying to take down Raymond Calitri on murder charges. The slick filmography and quick cuts remind me of Armageddon (doesn't hurt that Will Patton is in both) and each was a Jerry Bruckheimer production.

After seeing your reaction to having a small moth flying around you …. You need to do a movie reaction to the Richard Gere 2002 movie ,”The Mothman Prophecies “ with Laura Linney and Will Patton , who I believe is in this movie too. The movie is a suspense thriller based on true actual events that will freak you out and make you think 👍🏻

For a unique experience in watching a master actor late in their career you may want to look into watching Rober Duvall's great performance of a hermit in the movie Get Low-2009. Sissy Spacek also puts in a lovely performance with some comedic relieve from Bill Murray. Personally, i think it may be Robert Duvall's best performance but sadly very overlooked.

Nick Cage films I think you would like: Snake Eyes (thriller directed by Brian De Palma), Next, The family man, It could happen to you, Racing with the moon, Birdy, Peggy Sue got married, Honeymoon in Vegas, Trapped in Paradise (hilarious comedy). His films run the gamut of all genres and he has really good ones in all of them.

The original 1974 Gone In 60 Seconds by H.B. HALICKI IMO is better . This is a remake of Gone In 60 Seconds 2 which is also nothing like the original Gone in 60 Seconds 2 which H.B.HALICKI was killed in the making of Gone In 60 Seconds 2 which was un finished due to HALICKI'S death on set which is why the remake happened because of liability issues it could not be done like it originally was done . If you get a chance react to the 1974 version of Gone In 60 Seconds

The original 1974 movie is the one to watch. This is a tepid re-make that uses CGI where the original had nothing but real cars and real crashes. Granted, no one in the original had much acting experience or ability; and now that I think about it, most of the dialogue in the original is just voice over narration, but it's still far more fun to watch. In fact, all of the car chase movies of the 1970's are better than this POS. Vanishing Point, Dirty Mary - Crazy Larry, Eat My Dust, The Driver, Death Race 2000, Mad Max, The Getaway and even Smokie and Bandit are better this second rate imitation of a car chase movie.

If you want to see another atypical Angelina Jolie hairstyle, check out Hackers (1995). It's not the best film, sort of a '90s version of an early '80s teen film like WarGames, but it's fun. Also, it was Jolie's first theatrical film role, although she'd been doing music videos and direct-to-video movies since she was a kid.

Its the movie set that she met Brad Pitt on and if you saw the sexual tension between them in that movie. Geez we all knew they were hooking up after the first time we saw that movie.
