Gone Trash Fishing and Grilling on the Jetty with the BBQ Pit Boys

BBQ Pit Boys Jitterbug and Jacob head out fishing for Sea Robbins, the ugly and dangerous fish with wings that's considered trash or junk fish by many and not worth the effort. Get pricked by their wings and you'll find out why. Nothing beats fresh fish right out of the water. I grew up fishing and claiming. I have to admit I didn't even know sea robins were edible. I was always told it was they were junk fish. Now the stripper you threw back those are good eating.

I don't think there are actually trash fish. Some of them aren't caught because other people realize there's no meat on them. And that's too bad, because some of them are actually invasive species that taste pretty good. In the end, if all fishermen would catch invasive species and eat them, When I was growing up, one of my neighbors would take his boat out into the Gulf of Mexico and return with all sorts of fish. One time he cooked up a 5 ft long sand shark. He grilled it and put some barbecue sauce on it. That was what you call Guud!

they are considered undesirable because of their poison wings that can set ya back a few days if ya get pricked, and also the limited amount of meat it has for commercial use.. the white cod-like tasting flesh is worth the hassle though.

@@bbqpitboys EVERYONE who barbecues should invest in one pair of gloves. They're barbecue gloves and they're really thick. If you put on those same gloves before you grab a trash fish, Then your hands won't smell fishy Plus you won't get stuck on anything in popping the fish
