Any recommendations for friction mallets for a 30” Paiste symphonic gong?

We love the B Love flumies on Paiste gongs! Any of their mallets ranging from 1.8 cm to 8 cm would work well on a 30" gong. The Ollihess Lava series and Crazy Egg also work on German gongs, though they may leave more marks due to the nature of the rubber. A general warning is that any friction mallet will slightly mark up nickel-silver gongs. This is mostly just from the wax on the surface of the gong, and can be cleaned with a microfiber cloth, but still worth mentioning to anyone looking to use friction mallets on a German-style gong. Sometimes we'll use friction mallets on the back of the gong for that reason, which still works well. Thank you for watching!

Thank you so much for such a detailed response and explanation! You answered even more questions than I had. Will definitely be purchasing from you guys! I’ve been on a gong binge and have loved all the content you guys have on gongs. I’m choosing between a 30inch Paiste Symphonic Gong, your 34inch Atlantis Gong, and your 36inch Mother Tesla Gong. Primarily, using for Sound healing. My wife is a yoga instructor and uses a set 7 tuned Crystal Bowls so I wanted to add Gong baths at the end of her classes. Mostly outdoor classes and some indoor classes. For 10-25 people. I’ll soon decide which!

I have a 24 inch white gong with several rubber friction mallets in all sizes . I cannot for the life of me get a sound ….any ideas what I’m doing wrong ?

What’s the gong size? Try a silicone friction mallet or a B Love Mallet with it
