So glad you two enjoyed this one. It boggles my mind how few people know about this gem. I went and saw it alone in the theater on a $5 Tuesday because I couldn’t be bothered to find anyone else interested in seeing it, and absolutely laughed my ass off. Very glad I selected it for you to view! 😁

I'm actually kind of impressed with Jacob Tremblay, because he played the baseball kid in "Doctor Sleep," the which performance turned my stomach when he was tortured, and then played this role. He's great, and this film is so much fun!
@ckalinwi Жыл бұрын
He was also in "Room", as the kid born in captivity to Brie Larson's character. They were both fantastic.
@phousefilms Жыл бұрын
Lol, looked it up, apparently the actors like Rebecca Ferguson(Rose the Hat)having to do the torture during the scene were traumatized by his screaming and crying, but he was totally fine after each take and high fived his dad covered in blood.

This is one of those movies that I wish I saw in theaters... SO funny. There are good comedies, and then there are movies like this... with laugh out loud dialogue consistently throughout. I LITERALLY spit take when it got to the paintball gun scene at the frat. (The joke about the biggest kid being mistaken for a college student is priceless). And it does such a great balance of gross out humor vs. genuinely good kids. The one main kid even does the voice of Damian Wayne on the HARLEY QUINN animated series, and he's great there too! Jesus... is it possible that Seth & Evan are our generation's John Hughes??? 🤔😄

I'm surprised the movie seems a bit forgotten, given that it's hilarious and did OK at the box office. Noticed while googling it that it's Jacob Tremblay's birthday today (Oct 5) -- he's 16, so still too young to see it unaccompanied😄

I would dearly love to see your reactions to 2 of the best family classic's to come out of the UK. Both were directed by Lionel Jeffreys, a fantastic character actor who you may know from playing the grandfather in Chitty Chitty bang bang. The two movies are The Railway Children from 1970 and The Amazing Mr Blunden from 1973. These are charming classics that are far removed from the Hollywood way of movie making. they are quintessentially British, but in need of a world wide audience.

I wanted to like this movie more than I did, but the moral earnestness of the characters grated on me. And the fact that the drone adventure was all for naught really felt like a trope-buster for the wrong trope. That said, the cast is fucking amazing and I'll hate it when Jacob Trembley finally grows up and can't set new bars for child acting anymore.
