I was just going to post that. He's smoother than most you see hosting on SNL. Looks like he took it serious and really learned his bits. Hah! He was probably scared being on a comedy show and it motivated him.

Goddamn, Martin Short is a Genius. This is the 3rd sketch in a row I've watched where he's just incredible. And Roy Scheider's awesome. Fully committed to the character and playing it totally serious. Even Jim Belushi's good. Although he's probably just being himself LOL. When the writing allows talented people to play off each other like this it becomes something beautiful. It becomes Art. Thank you to everyone that made this sketch. This is art that makes us Laugh. And we really need that right now. TRUTH. From The Cheap Bastards :)

He broke out because of his talent but he just didn't catch enough hits. And can we stop the trite 'underrated' thing? It's so overused and abused. Like this comment. He is not underrated by anyone. He just didn't stay on top after the mid-80's or so. People just use 'underrated' to make it seem like they have a unique angle on something.
