Do you train to pick up fights or for self defense?

Do you mean to "pick fights", meaning "start fights of your choice"? Then saying "pick up fight" is bad English; just correcting it. Having said that, self-defense and fighting can be the same thing. A fight is a struggle where the intent is physical action of any kind and to any degree, to control on an opponent. The control can be done e.g. by pushing, pulling, holding, striking. So you can, in response to an attack, fight enough to defend yourself so to then escape/leave. Self-defense and sport fighting are two different things.

@@MYVLMA That’s just HIS WAY of saying “Do you train because you tend to look for them? Or find yourself IN THEM? Are you trying to get in them basically? Or is it a last chance problem fixer?” ☺️🧠💯

Good tips, thank you Sifu. True to the motto: “The best defense is a good offense!” Or as Miyamoto Mushashi said: “In all forms of strategy, it is necessary to maintain the combat stance in everyday life and to make your everyday stance your combat stance.”
