Hi Michael. I've just found your channel by accident and I instantly got interested into the way you explain and narrate things in a very professional manner. I'm a malaysian and I was searching about something related to Malaysia and your video popped up. I've watched some of your videos related to Malaysia and I really liked them because so many of things that you said and comparison that you made were true. I'm currently living outside of Malaysia somewhere in the middle east. Before I move from Malaysia to there, Malaysia's atmosphere and the way things function here was pretty much sounded "normal" and sometimes a little "out dated" for me but now, after spending years outside of Malaysia, now I understand what a jewel I lost. I know that the recent past years beside the COVID-19 pandemic problems, wasn't good years for Malaysia and it's people and also for foreigners who live in and like Malaysia. We had several ups and downs from political turmoils, constant changes in the governments and also some changes in our internal and foreign policies. Some said that yeah Malaysia is now a "failed" state and some other similar statements but I don't think so, it's not that bad like what some politicians or some negative minded people say. for me which now i live in the middle east, Malaysia's government and general condition is more like a heaven comparing to what is going on now in the middle east. Some might consider middle eastern countries as rich because of their oil, but in reality, people here are actually suffering more than you can imagine. Recent changes in geo-political landscape and ongoing wars like the Afghanistan War or Yemen war or the war between Azerbaijan and Armenia have made the whole entire region's situation very unstable. So many people have fallen into poverty and the COVID-19 pandemic just made it more worse. Even in those rich countries like UAE, their ordinary people are actually having a very hard time because they simply can't afford the living cost. Back to Malaysia's region, in southeast Asia pretty much all countries are having the same situation and all of them have been damaged economically. And not just that, people of an ASEAN country like Myanmar are currently suffering from the military-ruled government and several genocides that had happened there or even Thailand that recently experienced some general public protest of their people to show their disagreement about issues related to their royal regime. My point is, there are always some positive and negative points in every aspect and if you look at the countries all around the world, pretty much all of them have messed up a bit in their progress recently for several different reasons. And about Malaysia, with all of the negative and positive things that had happened in the past recent years and with also the COVID-19 post covid19 pandemic effects taking into account, I strongly believe that Malaysia still has much to offer in many aspects In comparison to other countries. Let's pray for the COVID-19 pandemic ends sooner and things start to get better so that we all could enjoy the life that we used to.

Malaysia and S. E. Asia: Their minds received a reality check in a competitive world. But their (government) hearts no doubt haven't changed. They don't come from a perspective of freedom and respect for contracts. Their actions reveal everything, their words are about as guaranteed as sand in the wind. Imo. Dear World, One benefit of these time is that we can see who is quick to get authoritarian. Australia for example probably has no idea about how much they have flushed all credibility away for the foreseeable evermore. And, Austria shows how long such a shadow can last. Then like dorks they went ahead and reaffirmed it.

Many thanks Michael for another great video! "Back in the game?" Hmm, frankly speaking, not so sure. A huge number of mistakes have been made and a lot of negative things have been done to the country's image. Especially the last couple of years. Unfortunately...

This is quite good. However, I'd be concerned if people are wanting to go back there after all that happened. How can you trust them after all that happened to foreigners? Fines for going out (while not fining locals), arrests on holidays and New year's eve, again just foreigners, retroactive taxing, etc etc. I don't know if I'd consider going there after all this, and I love Kuala Lumpur.

I've looked into setting up a Labuan company last year, but when I found out that online banking with bank branches in Labuan for offshore companies was not do-able I hesitated. My adviser told me that the solution was to get an onshore bank account in Kuala Lumpur with OCBC in the name of the Labuan offshore company. I have yet to move forward with this due to covid restrictions preventing me from physically meeting with the bank in KL (which was a requirement for account opening).

Dont they have currency control in Malaysia since 2016? Can you still wire large sum of money in and out freely if you set up a bank account in KL even in the name of a Labuan offshore company?

Hi Michael, Is it correct that as an American forming a Labuan company, you are taxed according to the United States Tax Code since USA does not share a tax treaty with Malaysia? Does leveraging Labuan company benefits as an American require renouncing U.S. Citizenship?
