TFS. Fafa. I love Asaana on rocks. A lot of Ghanaians don't know that Asaana is called 'li-ha' or 'Ali-ha' in Ewe and originated from the Anloga traditional Area. This healthful flavorful probiotic beverage was actually created by the Anlo people and popularized in the Capital area by the Anlos who settled in Accra. The Gas liked the drink but dismissed its Ewe name and called it Asaana. It is therefore appropriate that we pay homage to the Anlo people of the Ewe Tribe for enriching our culinary culture with this delicious beverage. *The Gas also have their version of the drink called 'nm3-daa' made from boiled unfermented sprouted corn sweetened with burnt sugar.
@aphua16957 жыл бұрын
Asaana and alihaa are prepared differently though and taste different. Asaana is not fermented. It's made from malted or sprouted corn.
@globalcetzen52717 жыл бұрын
You just watched her make Asaana with fermented corn broth so what's your argument? Asaana is fermented and nm3daa is made from sprouted corn; hence the malted taste and aroma. Asaana was invented in Accra central to mimic the Anlo 'LI-HA'. The recipe is a corruption of the 'LI-HA recipe that the Ewes who settled in Accra brought with them...I never comment ignorantly. My late Mother was Anlo from Atorkor-Anloga Dosu Royalty. I know what I am talking about because I also grew up in La with Ga's ...The malted sprouted corn wine is NM3-DAA...You can ask anybody who is truly Ga.
@wendyoyediran17307 жыл бұрын
mm3daa is made by the same process but salt is added as well as sugar...

@GlobalCeTZen, We are the same people ooo :) The Gas are Eʋes; if you come across the book “The Call to the Hebrews” by Mawuli”, dive into it! (lots of historical info; before the slave trade and the partition of Africa)
@globalcetzen52717 жыл бұрын
Akpene Maxwella, Thank you for the information. As an ethnic writer, the book will make an excellent research tool. It's rather strange how the Gas, are the tribe that invests time and energy into shaming and denigrating Ewes. I grew up in Labadi now called La and felt their ridicule and abuse first hand, however, I doubt if the Gas will accept their link to Ewes, even with historical proof. I'll definitely purchase the book though.
