Ya know... I liked this. I really LIKED this! But... We'll do what I liked about it first. The usable and appropriately placed kitchen cabinetry; the storage; access to outdoor space, and I actually liked the kitchen area. Yes, the bedrooms lean to the smallish side but I could work with them. The bathrooms were nicely sized and I love how the elevator opens to the apartment. But... SHEESH!!! $9750/month? This is clearly priced for a roommate situ (I just can't envision a family or a couple paying that much) and even with roommates... theoretically $3300/month/person? YOWZAH!!! The Landlord definitely wants a piece of those Google salaries!!! Great location. Very nice apartment. But the rent... 😢

Darling I think you might be in the minority in this 1. That rolling counter in the "kitchen on a wall" is not what you see in expensive places. The bedrooms are way too narrow to allow for walking comfortably. There's no dining area at all. Sitting at a counter on a stool might work for breakfast IMO but not dinnerwise. & the finishes weren't much above builder grade.

For the life of me with small rooms WHY single people need HUGE beds that take up most of the floorspace I'll never know. Makes no sense. If it's a spilt rent it's feasible I suppose. Wonder if utilities are separate & parking is a consideration if you have a car. Nice abode though for a modern reno. Just get real about those big beds & accessing the deck & having a desk or nightstands in those rooms. 😊

I built my home debt free on the nights and weekends after working construction all day with my own hands for $150,000 in material cost only. The land was $87,000 at the bottom of the market. The place is now worth 1.3 million. It's a water front home on 6 acres and my property tax bill is $330 per month. The only other cost that I pay is for electrical. Other than that, I'm off grid. It's easy to build a simple home even if you haven't had any experience using tools. There are so many videos online that explain how to do it. It's a great way to own something debt free and retire early.

These are the worst types of renos. They gut these beautiful old townhouses and install 'modern' builder grade grey shortboard, rip out the old crown molding and doorjams and install identikit material - rip out beautiful oak bullnose baseboard and install 5" poplar painted white (gross) Look at how bad the transition from the tile to the living room floor is, doesn't even meet flush with the counter. I guess it's at least level? There's so much to make fun of here. The glass tile backsplash, not even considering running a channel for cable management for your electronics - the fact that these dudes felt confident in showing this off is like... insane. What some people are doing to some of these older properties is nothing short of vandalism. Should be criminal. Also, literally all of these finishes are already dated by 12 years. For the love of god people, if you just bought property and you don't know what you're doing, hire an interior architect. Hire a designer. Go to the A&D at 150 E 58th st. This $10K is way better spent here than some townhouse in Brooklyn. They gut/rehabbed so they could squeeze in as many BR/BA as possible ($$$), but very little common space (except the outdoor space that you can enjoy in a snowstorm). I also see a lot of people on here commenting that the higher salaries in NYC justify these outrageous prices. No. It. Does. Not! They may make more, but purely speaking about the dwelling, someone who makes way less somrwhere else can get way more bank for their buck.

I've loved NYC since i was a kid in the 90's but i've never been there, but i know sh-t tons about the city, even the street grid and pretty much all the landmarks and city areas and even pretty odd places, lol. It's a shame it's so expensive to live over there. I live in europe actually (sweden)

I actually don’t think this is a bad price 🤷🏾‍♀️ if you had 3 or 4 roommates it would be very doable.

Looks like so many other bland apartments. It's nice but not $10k nice but then that seems to be the going rate these days for anything decent.

Agreed. It's depressingly anonymous with the usual glaring white walls and trendy but impractical bathroom fitments. All these places look the same.

Restoration is great to save and upkeep the building, but as with all NYC apartments, the rent is way too outrageous and criminal.

If I ever got a wild hair and moved to NYC I'd have to live in an old home that kept it's charm and history. Not a fan of modern, unless its Mid Century Modern.

"Midcentury Modern" was cheap post WW2 furniture and housing mass produced for returning GIs. It was never meant to be quality.

Cash- I liked this apartment. Layout was nice. The fact that they included anything extra is impressive. Haven’t seen that much. Price could work with as many as five tenants. Otherwise- Ouch! Really fun episode. Keep going!☮️👏👏👏👏 Your numbers are growing Cash because you do such a great job! Bravo!

It's always presented as three (or more) wage earners can live in an apartment to pay the rent. What do families do, make their five-year-olds get a job?
