A lot of viewers thought this was unrealistic because she was living in a poor neighborhood. But she worked in a clothing store and was able to purchase outfits at discounted prices. At the time, she was living alone and did not have to support anyone else.

@Angel Johnson Mike Evans was one of the creators of that show and Norman Lear wanted a single mother in the projects but Mike said no we want a father in this show!

@Angel Johnson Mike Evans was Lionel Jefferson on the Jeffersons, you can see his name in the credits this is why he left the show to give all his time to his baby, Good Times but Norman was not giving him more screen time so he left and went back to the Jeffersons!

Norman Lear wanted a total takeover of the show and threw out Mike Evans and Eric Monte, the creaters if the show. He really did not do right by his black sitcoms. The Jeffersons ended without a finale, he killed off James Evans but asked Jean Stapleton for permission to let Edith Bunker die on All In The Family. Redd Foxx was off Sanford and Son for nearly half of a season for a contract dispute.

Hilarious how they live in the projects that's supposed to be violently dangerous on this show but yet they leave the front door unlocked. And Willona walking in without knocking seems very rude. Just never noticed before until now.

Yeah, that's kind of the case in all sitcoms. It takes too long for a knock on the door, crossing the room to unlock and letting the person in. It throws off all the timing (which is crucial in comedy), hence why no one ever locks their doors and neighbors can just barge in.

I remember that episode. so humorous. At the end, Wilona tells her friend "Flo" that she is happily single, and will still date the handsome man. So, Florida admits to James he was right. The ending is cute. You have to watch it. I liked how there was balance between James and Florida. Classic show--despite JJ clown performances. Never liked his character, even as a child when he was popular.
