Allow me to revise the synopsis: “In GOOD VIBRATIONS Mike Love attempts to revise Beach Boy history, portraying himself as the brains, drive, and creative anchor of the band. He pays 'backhanded compliments’ to the true genius of the band’s best known material, his cousin Brian Wilson, focusing greatly on Brian’s mental illness-challenges, and certain lawsuits. Anyone who knows anything about true Beach Boys history would know this is a load of tripe. All Love has really done with this book is put the final nails in his Douchebag coffin."

I've read the book and didn't get that impression from it. The book is fairly light, not a deep analysis, the darkest part of the book was Mike deliberately being duped out of songwriter royalties by his uncle Murray, that's about as sordid as it gets. No where in the book does Mike dispute Brian's talent and leadership in the studio, quite the opposite.
