Such a great collaboration two iconic legends. This was written by the late great Jerry Chestnut. There is a video on KZbin with Jerry explaining the story behind the song

"It's been a good year for the roses" - basically insinuating that he hasn't been getting her flowers due to the hard time in the relationship. So it's been a good year for the roses because they're going unpicked.

I always pictured he was walking through the garden crying, and thus the roses were getting well watered.

Listen to George's high harmony at the end....! One of the greatest singers ever. His voice is matchless - such emotion! Thanks for reacting to this one. (Alan's no slouch either...)

A little trivia. We use to have a station called TNN ( The Nashville Network ). There was a segment on one of the show's where Alan Jackson was an audience member before his career took off. The guest on the show would sing a verse of a song and if the audience member they picked could sing the next verse they'd win money. Alan got picked and won the money and the audience went crazy over him. Glen Campbell gave Alan his start but officially he had his start sooner. I saw that show and I've also looked it up on KZbin once but haven't been able to find it again. It was so sweet because he was shy and nervous. He sure ain't now. 😃 if I can find the clip again I'll share the link.

There's a group I think you'd really enjoy. They had big hits in the 80s some sad some you can tap your foot to. The name of the group is Diamond Rio and two of their best are Mama don't forget to pray for me and Meet in the middle. They are a great group.💖💖💖

Great reaction! Could you do Joe Diffie and George Jones “ what would Waylon do “. We lost both of them in the last few years, and they’re singing about another legend that’s no longer with us. It’s not sad. Just a reflection of ol’ Waylon.

I've been watching your reaction videos for awhile and have enjoyed them, also been listening to country music for years, I'm in my 70's, I mention these two songs before, let's go way back. Thanks for this song review. I have 2 suggestions. “She thinks I still care” by: George Jones. “Living on love” by: Alan Jackson. I really like the fact that you don’t interrupt & interject while the song is playing like some people on KZbin do. I mean some of them, between Talking & commenting & stopping the song 2-3 times have no common sense or consideration for their subscribers. Those are the ones I unsubscribe from.
