Hands down one of the weirdest comments on KZbin that I've ever seen.

Doesn't quite comply with this movie but I acctually heard a theory why movies with evil kids takes place in winter is that it's inherritly uncomfortable to see kids in cold weather, since normally.... well they die if noone helps them in that situation normally. As an adition kids usually look more cute and voulnorable with mittens, warm hats and "grow into" clothes. Witch makes for more of a opposite to them being evil. Just an objective theory I heard. Great vid as usual. Thanks

Being a kid myself(8-9 or so) me and two of my friends were playing in an abandoned building(early 90-s, USSR just collapsed, so there was abundance of those and we loved It) and were attacked by four or five even younger(5-7 y.o.), but tougher homeless kids. They asked us to leave "their territory", I've failed the diplomacy check and their leader threw a shard of glass to my face, which I barely dodged. Then they took out their rusty knives and started chasing us. One of my friends was a number one rock thrower in the yard(I was number 2) - he managed to pick up and throw a rock back while running and It seemed to break their leader's knee-cap, he fell on the ground howling in pain. This really enraged other kids and they kept chasing us, so we decided to split - the kids chose to follow me, of course, and I ran like hell, I tell you. I managed to reach the park and climb a tree(I was a number 1 at that! and I bet I still am). The kids surrounded the tree thinking they were winning... but suddenly a horde(well, a dozen) of stray dogs appeared, and they really hate bums(and bums are afraid of them) - and chased them little fuckers away. Screams and barks are the sounds of my childhood, haha. I quickly climbed down and ran straight home to watch celebrate by watching some "Braindead" again. True story, slice of life. Not even the worst one, lol.

I mean, some people say that these movies are "traumatising" or whatever. But they were actually soothing for some of us considering tha day-to-day teeth-and-bloody-hair-on-the-floor reality, lol. Still watch the most hardcore stuff when I need to calm down.

@@davidkennedy6208 Not sure about that. I hung out with some kids from a 'bad' family when I was young. About seven. I was tall, and my friends said I looked like their elder brother, but not fat, stupid or ugly. He (12 at the time) took offence at that. We were enjoying a proper winter, two foot deep snow and actual blizzards. The elder brother, 'Fat Frank', tried to drown me and some of my friends in a frozen over flooded ditch behind their house. Literally the last street of town before you hit farm land. The water was too cold so he climbed out and we managed to scramble out. My friends got away but Frank hit me in the back of the head with a rock. He picked me up and tried to throw me over a barbed wire fence into another flooded frozen ditch. My leg caught and I was hung upside down with barbed wire hooked into my calf and the back of my knee. He was freezing from being in a blizzard and being soaking wet, so Frank went home. It took me until after dark to pull myself up the fence to unhook my leg and then stagger home through the snow and high wind. When I mentioned what happened, why I was late, covered in ice and with a large bloody rip in my trousers and (I was surprised to learn) my flesh, my mother decided against calling the police incase Frank's family burned our house down. Something they were known for around the estate. Still got an inch long scar on my calf. I still see Frank around town. Still fat, ugly, stupid and mean as fuck. Inexplicably has never spent anything more than a few weeks in jail. The local council PAID his family almost half a million pounds to leave town. Which they did... for about a year. Looking back, I have no fucking clue how I didn't die. Between exposure, blood loss, head trauma, no tetanus shots and having my mum stitch my wound closed with sewing cotton I should have died. Guess I'm just unlucky.

Pretty much all horror films are more effective in the Winter. Because not only do you have the killer/monster/whatever to deal with, but the elements as well. Cabin fever, being snowed in, impassable roads, etc.

As much as the production backstory makes sense, it's not always what it sounds like. I mean, producers were saying pretty much the same things about James Cameron being fired from Piranha II and given his other movies I doubt what they eventually did was any better then what could have been. An interesting coincidence that both movies had similar problems considering that, well... Both feature Piranha kills.

Great point with "The Hunger Games". I only have seen the first one, and it's so damn coy with the violence. Go watch "Battle Royale", if you want to see teenagers kill each other. It's hard to agree with you on the producer/director relationship. George Lucas's a pussycat when you compare him to Sam Peckinpah, and I like both guys. Nice review, BTW.
@GoodBadFlicks11 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Battle Royale is brutal, great movie. As far as Lucas, I'm not saying he is difficult to work with. I'm merely pointing out that while he has great ideas he needs someone there to reel him off when he starts getting too outlandish. He is surrounded by yes men and no one tells him when he is getting out of hand. For example, Han Solo was originally a bipedal fish until the producers told him no.
