Just bought this mattress in the Medium! I went to 3 shops and did A LOT of research...to the point where I drove my fiancé nuts LOL. We went to their Santa Monica store and laid on the NLH and fell in love, it was MUCH more comfortable than Avocado, and if we bought the Avocado mattress we were going to have to get the pillow top, which with this Nest mattress is not necessary.

Did you try the Bloom hybrid or Brentwood Cedar Luxe? If so, anything that swayed you to the NLH?
@Dakkibaby204 жыл бұрын
@@derekschildt1783 No, because there isn't a physical store for me to have tried it, and even with the great return policies I didn't want to go through the return process. I did a lot of research though...the reason why I didn't go with Brentwood is because I read that the tufted buttons after a year started to "dig" into someone's back, same with Avocado, and I figured I didn't need to purchase a pillow top with the NLH. Bloom was definitely up there, and very comparable to the Nest, but again no store I could have went to try it.

Get back to us a year or two from now, Latex is crap for bedding, I've gone through 2 of these in three years. Unless you like springs poking you in the ribs and hips all night I can't recommend this bed. Was fantastic new, but shot 1-2 years in and Nest tells me it's normal to feel the springs when just sitting on it, good luck! Latex is a natural, biodegradable product, it starts to break down the minute it hits the ozone, and very temporary feel of comfort. I tried both medium and firm and only weigh 175lbs. Even a 2" topper won't hide the springs

Great review, Mike! You are really helping us sort through the options and think about the best mattress to buy. We've already gone through a Helix (too firm for hubby, but fine for me) and a Purple 3 (WAY too soft for my back, but OK for hub's side sleeping pressure points). We think this Nest might be the golden ticket for both of us. There are TWO key elements that are not present in your reviews that I would like to ask about (and possibly have you consider in future reviews): 1) What is the feel of the mattress when you are sitting up in bed reading or watching TV? and 2) What is the "cuddle factor"? In other words, is there enough support for both parties when spooning? (We find that some mattresses leave us feeling like we're in a cuddle hole vs. feeling supported equally.) Appreciate any thoughts you might have on these questions.

Hi Corey. I'm assuming your Alexander Signature was purchased in 2019 or earlier - we judged the medium version of that as a medium on our scale as well. All of the Natural Hybrid Latex beds are going to feel firmer than that, but the Plush version will come closest. Hope that helps!

This review is amazing, very well explained and tested. I would like to know how this mattress compares to Brooklyn Bedding bloom mattress. I see that one is talalay and the other is dunlop. I also see that the latex layer is removable with Nest. Not sure how else they differ. Thank you for your work
@goodbed4 жыл бұрын
Hi, and thanks for the question. We haven't done a full review of the Bloom, so we cannot compare them head to head in terms of comfort. From a materials standpoint, practically speaking, you will not notice a difference between the two latex types (assuming they are of similar density and feel). The biggest difference is that the Bloom features wool quilted into the top quilting, while Nest uses foam. Wool has some moisture-wicking properties while foam typically does not. We judged the Nest bed a "medium soft" -- Brooklyn Bedding calls the Bloom a "medium" so it might be a little more firm. Both have great return/trial policies. The Nest does have the cool zipper access to the latex layer - so it's replaceable in the future. The Bloom doesn't have that. Hope that's helpful!

This Nest NHL and the BB Bloom Hybrid are both built in the BB factory, but the Bloom uses Talalay latex while the Nest uses Dunlop. Have you had a chance to evaluate the new Saatva latex hybrid ? I was considering that since they deliver and install, but haven’t seen a thorough review yet. Seems similar to the nest.
@goodbed4 жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks for the comment. That mattress is high on our "to review" list, but we haven't gotten to it yet due to COVID restrictions. We'd expect it to use a similar support as the other Saatva mattresses, but substitute latex for the micro-coils. They are using certified-organic latex, which is an appealing bonus. If you subscribe to our KZbin channel, you'll get notified when we post new reviews. Hope that's a little helpful!
@chianti954 жыл бұрын
When I chatted with saatva they seemed to be suggesting that the coil system is different in their latex hybrid -from that discussion and the diagram on their site it appears to only be using pocketed coils - not the dual coil (pocketed in combination with the underlying connected coil) system. I was tempted to try it, but thought it best to wait until more reviews are available. Looking forward to your evaluation. Re the Latex hybrid from Nest - they say they will swap out the comfort layer if you need a softer or firmer feel. That seems a lot easier than replacing a whole bed! Also they seem to be suggesting that you need to rotate the comfort layer periodically - I’m wondering if that means you don’t have to rotate the entire mattress? If so, that would make my life a lot easier. And they say (online) that you can replace - I assume they mean purchase- a new top layer if necessary. This modular idea seems like a great feature - I don’t think I heard you mentioned it in your review. I wonder if you’ve actually tried removing and replacing that top layer -/ is it a logistical hassle, or fairly easy to put back in place? In a small space, it would be a lot easier to turn a top layer than the whole mattress. Does that modularity decrease durability, tho? Does latex fall apart from frequent handling? Really appreciate your careful reviews! Thanks

Start the quiz here: www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/quiz/ That said, we did think that the Nest Hybrid Latex mattress is a good choice for most side sleepers, with the plush having better pressure relief for lighter people and the Medium having better pressure relief for heavier people. We did think that the design of the mattress would not feel hot to most people. But since you mention you are a hot sleeper, you might want to enter our drawing for an Eight Pod mattress, which has a programmable cooling/heating feature. Great review, thank you. I called Nest to ask some specific questions about the cover on this mattress before I make my final decision. I was shocked to learn there is memory foam in the cover, while it is only 1/2" of memory foam, but still. Most people that want a latex mattress, want it for opposite chacteristics that latex offers vs memory foam. Any thoughts on the memory foam in the cover, could you tell it was in there? Why would they do this lol. I would have bought it right then had I not heard the word memory foam.
@goodbed4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dani. Thank you for the question. Yes, there are actually three pieces of petroleum-based foam in the Hybrid Latex -- each of them is just an inch to a half-inch. As for the foam quilted into the cover, we do talk about it -- but we didn't think it a noticeable 'melting' property you think of with memory foam. Nest has a couple of other mattresses that reduce or eliminate the poly foams entirely, and as you might expect, they are more expensive. But if your main concern is whether the cover gives the mattress any of that 'memory feel' character, we noticed hardly any in our evaluation. Hope that's helpful!

Hi Juanito. Thanks for the comment. Our GoodBed Quiz is PERFECT for this situation. It will allow you to specify your budget, and will ask you questions about your sleep style and other needs. Then we can give you a list of mattresses that are most likely to fit your needs and preferences. It will ask you about things you maybe had not thought of but are super important. For example, do you like to really sink into a mattress or do you prefer more of a floating-on-top feeling? Do you tend to sit or lay right on the edge of your mattress? All of those factor into choosing a mattress. But the quiz does that for you! You can find the quiz here: www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/quiz/

Hi..I’m 72 y/o Female. I’m of normal weight @5’ 6” tall..weight fluctuates between 145 - 155. A year ago I had a hip replacement using stainless steel. I’m now having difficulties getting comfortable. The steel I find is quite uncomfortable when laying on that side. My mattress pushes back against it causing a lot of pain, which then causes insomnia. Would this bed be a good one for me? I really do need a lot of cushy softness on top of the mattress. Decades ago I had an all latex mattress and it was the best bed I ever slept on. I can’t seem to find one anymore but this one sounds close. I am disabled and can’t get to a store to lay on one. If not this mattress , what kind would you recommend? Thanks so much

Hi Anona. Thanks for the comment -- your situation certainly sounds painful. Did you know we have a written page on each of the mattresses we review? In those, we provide a detailed ratings breakdown for different sizes/sleep positions, and an assessment of pressure relief -- which is what you're looking for here. It sounds like you have a good idea what you need, so those ratings charts are going to be useful to you. Here's our page on the Next Hybrid Latex: www.goodbed.com/reviews/nest-hybrid-latex-mattress-review/ We thought pressure relief would be excellent for a person of your size/side sleeping. We have also reviewed some other latex mattresses that may want to look at. The Spindle mattress might especially interest you -- it is made from three layers of natural latex, and you can re-arrange the layers to achieve different levels of softness. It could be a good option for a person that's not 100% sure how soft they want their mattress to be. Here is our page and video on that one: www.goodbed.com/reviews/spindle-mattress-review/ Hope that's helpful!

Here's our page on Avocado: www.goodbed.com/reviews/avocado-green-mattress-review/ And the Nest Natural Hybrid Latex: www.goodbed.com/reviews/nest-hybrid-latex-mattress-review/ In brief, we thought the Avocado was great for most back and stomach sleepers, while the Nest was better for side sleeping and combo sleepers. Hope that helps!

Avocado has some quality control issues in this last year. MANY are complaining of a barnyard smell that wont go away and a few have received their mattress with bed bugs. Yes...Bedbugs. Both people tried to eliminate the bugs professionally but could not. Avocados' customer service was not helpful in resolving the issues with either instance, the customers were forced to keep a bug infested mattress. I have looked at Avocado for a few years but when I read of the bed bugs that was it..they were off the list. One poster did mention that with organic cotton there have been an increase of bugs. So...Avocado did not clean their cotton? What about the other items used in building the beds. IDK, maybe there is another side of the story. Maybe they repackaged a returned mattress and sent it out or maybe the guys making the mattress had bed bugs?

I think the problem with these reviews is they are all for new beds. We need some consumer reviews after 1-2 years of sleeping on beds, most all are great when new. Real quality is only shown over time, a pretty face doesn't usually last.
@goodbed3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ken -- Thanks for your comment. I do completely agree with you that the vast majority of this review does not relate to the expected lifespan of this mattress. ICYMI we do provide our take on its quality and likely longevity in the Price & Value section (which starts at 23:43). This perspective is informed by our assessment of the materials and construction of this mattress, our familiarity with the general durability of these components, and accumulated consumer feedback on similar mattresses over the past 10 years. That said, to see consumer ratings and reviews from people who've had this mattress for a while, your best option is probably to look on our website, where consumer reviews can be filtered based on a variety of factors, including how long they owned the mattress at the time they left the review. You'll find that consumer data isn't perfect either (adverse selection in who chooses to provide feedback being a particularly important limitation), but in any case you can find that data here: www.goodbed.com/mattress-line/nest-bedding-hybrid-latex/ratings/ Separately, I just wanted to add a general point about why we don't focus our entire reviews on quality. Quality is just one of many important considerations in choosing a mattress. Buying a high-quality mattress that doesn't meet your personal needs, preferences, and priorities just means you'll be able to sleep on it in misery for longer before it wears out. So the majority of what we do in our reviews is break down each mattress into what we call its "Mattress DNA" -- a set of measurable characteristics that uniquely and objectively define this mattress in terms of its its Fit, Feel, and Features. With this information (along with an assessment of its quality), you can be confident that this mattress is a good match for your unique requirements. While every new mattress may have a "pretty face," if you watch or read multiple of our reviews you will come to learn that this does not mean that they have the same DNA. I hope that's helpful.

Why do you, and all other review channels only review the medium to firm options? I am around 260 pounds but I love the softest mattress I can find. I bought the nest signature Alexander hybrid in soft (the memory foam version, not this bouncy version)and it is great, but I couldn't get ant information before I bought it because every channel that had a review of any of the soft beds, only reviewed the medium offering. Some people, like myself prefer the softest option possible, so why won't any of you do a review for us
@goodbed4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jonathan. Thank you for the comment and question. It's really just a matter of space and logistics. The "medium" softness is by far the most popular for any brand, so we do default to that softness because we just don't have enough space to test all the softness variations of a given mattress. Sometimes, as in the case of our overview videos, we are able to look at an entire line of beds in a showroom, we can more easily compare the softness levels. If you have a look at some of our Beautyrest or Sealy videos, you can see where we are able to do that -- and we can tell you which versions are softest or firmest in the series. Lastly, even though we can't test all variations of a given model, we have been doing this long enough that we understand how comfort materials are going to feel, even if we can't test a mattress in person. Most mattresses use the same underlying support (such as a pocketed spring unit or support foam), with the softness variation coming from the top comfort foams. So if (for example) we test a company's medium mattress with 2" of premium comfort materials, and we know that the company's plush version has 3" of the same material, we (and you) can make a solid educated guess at how much softer it will be. Here are some of our overview videos, where we are able to look at a whole line in person. Beautyrest Black: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpbWh2yea9qbptU Serta iComfort: kzbin.info/www/bejne/faKUq5aDi8qGr9U Sealy Posturepedic Plus: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2rddH-qZchpqNU Hope this is somewhat helpful to you!

@@goodbed yes, but all the channels do the exact same thing. I watched a slumber yard video that said best plush mattresses and it has mattresses they say are a six point five out of ten. If it is closer to firm than it is to soft, how is that even a soft mattress? No one makes a list of soft mattresses that are options of true soft mattresses. The nest is the only soft choice I could find and it was off a review of the medium. It's just disappointing that on all of youtube there is no one who makes a video of truly soft mattresses.
