Product Sourcing:
When it comes to sourcing a product for review, I will usually either purchase and item personally or reach out to a supplier requesting a sample for review. Most suppliers, after seeing the channel, are supportive if they are confident in their product, appreciating the value of greater exposure.
I am sometimes asked to review a product by a supplier which I will only agree to if the product fits the channel and I believe will be of interest to you, my audience. Also the product needs to be worthy of a review. It is not in my interest to review inferior or poor quality products and therefore as you might expect many requests are politely declined.
Any sponsored videos (paid for reviews) are clearly stated as such so there can be no misunderstanding. Even with sponsored reviews I will only agree to a sponsorship on products and services which I believe will be of genuine interest to viewers.
I will always make reference in the video to products which have been provided for review by a supplier and I always make it clear to the supplier that they cannot influence or be involved in the review in any way if they choose to supply a product.

Didn't know Bellroy before your video, but it appealled to me from the first seconds of it. Almost immediately ordered the Bellroy Lite Sling. It's a very small disappointment it doesn't come in the same orange as the Mini, since I'm a bit of a fool for that colour, but the size and the overall design just made the choice kind of clear.

I watched this video after I purchased the Bellroy Mini Sling and should've listened to you. I love the mini and just took it on a 3 week vacation. I adhere to the 1 bag travel philosophy so having a day sling while traveling is an added bonus especially on the airplane. I like to attach it to the tray table in front of me and have everything I need (phone, charger & cables, tissues, earpods, chewing gum, etc) accessible while my 1 bag is in the overhead compartment. BUT I also like to have my iPad Mini with me on longer trips to keep me occupied with downloaded television shows/movies. The Bellroy Mini was good, but thicker material made it a bit of a burden and and I couldn't fit everything I needed comfortably. While on vacation I put in an order for the Bellroy Lite Sling and it was waiting for me at home upon my return. I unpacked my 4 liter mini into the 7 liter lite sling and still had room to add my iPad Mini and it would've made for an easier & more comfortable carry. Great video Jon. Next time I'll head your advise ahead of time. Cheers!!

Another one to consider is the Bellroy Venture 6L. It's a lite sling with more organization and padded fabric. I wish it had the magnetic buckle though.

Also be aware that the magnetic clasp is on the opposite side as the mini, which may affect preferences in wearing the bag.

This video helped me a lot to pull the trigger and now that I have this bag (same color) I can't be happier. It's just so comfortable and for being so light it's actually very sturdy. The materials seem top notch as with any other Bellroy product and I'm sure that with proper care this thing will last a long time. For traveling this will be heaven sent. I have a Trakke Largo sling and it's too bulky for that purpose but this is just perfect.

Thanks for sharing Jon - I have a Bellroy Sling Mini and also found that it was hard to get things from inside the sling. Just got a larger sling (Greenroom136 Metrorunner) - it’s heavier but has a lot more usuable space and it’s easy to see what’s inside the sling.

Hi Jon, after seeing this review I have just bought the Shadow version, its a good size and so lightweight and spacious it will replace a much heavier canvass bag I have been carrying for a few years and wanted to replace because of the weight of it and the extra things we all have to carry these days. Bellroy makes amazing products. However, they still lack an iPad compatible sling. Recently I got their Venture Sling which is the biggest sling they have and it contained my 11" iPad Pro. The only issue I still have is there is no enough padding for such expensive device.

Thank you , do you know that handbags rarely ever have light colouring inside and this really annoys . As you cannot find items in if it’s dark so it’s about time manufacturers realised this more . Really useful bag , I would have one as my bags are more purposeful than decorative . 👍

There are special tiny lights for handbags. As far as women’s bags are concerned over the last few years they have changed a lot. More and more come with a light inside. All the ones I had for the last five years or so were beige, pale blue or light grey in the inside.

I've got a really bad back so I'm always looking for an alternative to a backpack. I'm not crazy over slings. They do alleviate some pressure off my back but they can cause issues with uneven weight distribution. Between the two I like the mini over the lite despite the lite weighing less. I have found that fanny packs worn around the waist seem to cause the least pain for me. With that being said I am curious about the magnetic clip. It doesn't seem to be that secure against someone snatching it off my body. Is there any preventative measure against this? I live in a major city so security will always be a major factor for me.

Hi Koff - the magnetic latch requires a specific action to release it and always sits around the front - pulling hard won't do it - so it feels safe to me

I still feel like if someone wants my bag they're going to get it one way or another, but that says more about society than the bag itself. Another thing I thought of was even without the magnetic clasp someone theoretically could just cut the strap. Which in reality is just about any bag with a strap. As always great review. I do enjoy your take on EDC gear.

Last summer I got the 7l "Sling" (just that), but the Lite Sling actually looks like a better option now. My biggest annoyance with the Sling is that the opening is kind of narrow given the size of the bag -- I could probably fit a decently sized water bottle inside the bag itself, but the opening wouldn't be wide enough for it. The Lite Sling looks like it might be a little narrower but taller.

I find it annoying that the front zipper pocket doesn’t allow “space” underneath the zipper *itself*. I.e. it’s a hard stop & very limiting. I’m relegating my bellroy lite to travel since it’s so packable. I May try the Aer max.

I got the 9L Venture sling and I fill it up quite heavily. I can recommend getting a flat "Memo" water bottle instead of a traditional one, its like night and day for saving space in there.

Aesthetics matters more when it comes to purses and they are way overpriced. EDC guys aren’t stupid enough to splurge thousands on a sling with a Louis Vuitton pattern on it.

I'm currently usig the Bellroy Sling (the 7l model) and I'm super happy with it, I've been thinking about the Belloy Sling Lite but I'm a bit on the fence as I actually like the cloth-like material of the non-lite - I think it looks snazzier. As for packaging my sling into a bigger bag, I've been looking at the Waterfield Designs Packable Sling as it looks really interesting. It basically folds in on itself and packs into a self-contained pocket but the thing is it doesn't look like a packable bag at all. The price is comparable to the Bellroy line of slings. I have a couple of other bags from Waterfield and they're all incredible so I can't imagine this being any different. I guess there's nothing wrong with having more than one bag though? Right? Right? I'm gonna go ask a woman...

Jon, I am about to purchase one of these bags . However I’m uncertain as to the colour I should choose. I live in Australia where the temperature is definitely on the warmer side so I thought of the Chalk colour. But then I look at the darker colour for it’s not showing the grime. Hi Jon, How’s the chalk color holding up? I like the color but worried how it cleans if/when it gets some dirt on it, especially when running through the dirty trays or belts at airport security. Had my new Wandrd Gobi Tan full of tar-like stain at LAX when my wife packed apples for my son in his backpack and we got separated and she didn’t mention to me about it. So customs had their Beagle sniff my son’s bag and they asked if we had fruits and I said no. They then asked to do a search and found apples so I had to go through another customs line and put all my gear in the conveyor and on the other side, my entire new backpack was filled with some tar-like stain and I couldn’t get it out. I guess it builds some character to the pack if that’s your thing but not for me. I’m curious if the material from Bellroy Lite sling in Chalk color can be cleaned and maintained easily or not.

Hi Jon, I enjoyed the review and will like/ sub. I am on the hunt for something lightweight that can stow away (bellroy light is great) but the can carry an 11in iPad (Bellroy doesn’t). Best I have seen on line is the Aer Day Sling 3 Max but it due to the Ballistic Nylon and organisation it’s not as light (I have one of their rucksacks which are great but heavy). Nice Video Jon :) Personnaly i really like my Pacsafe Venturesafe X as a small EDC which is 6 liters sling bag and large enough to accomodate my 12.4" tablet. I am also curious of this 3-in-1 sling bag by the Frenchie Co. i read on the internet... that goes from sling bag small to medium to a backpack and looks stylish.

what kind of water bottle is that? or rather, the dimensions? water bottle carry is something I'm considering in my next sling. nice to see that a rather large bottle fits in the lite sling.

A 1.5L Nalgene "Silo" fits, but that would definitely be the max. Most 1L bottles should fit fine.
