I'm burned out and won't be making videos and music for the foreseeable future. Thanks for all of your support over the years. I hope the channel helped you in some way.
I plan on hanging on the Discord still so let's keep in touch on there. Happy holidays and make sure you do something you want to do today.

Hey Mike, I'm sad to hear your feeling burned out, I can totally relate and understand. However, It's good to hear you're taking steps to deal with the burn out phenomenon. I've learned so much and been inspired by you over the years... not just from music and recording but, also your philosophies and attitude for life. I found your channel way back near the beginning. I'd just got hold of a 424 after being without one since 2002. I needed a refresher and some pro-tips... and there you were! Like a Knight in a shining hoodie! I've been quiet online in recent months but, I'll definitely jump back on the discord if that's where its all happening. It's been an absolute pleasure supporting you and all the things you've achieved with the channel. I wish you all the best in your next endeavour and I know you're gonna excell at that too. Thanks for the journey... so far! Steve x

You're one of the first and longest supporters of the channel and I've often thought to myself over the years, "Man, I must be doing something right if Steve is here." @@424Recording Thanks Mike! The fam is all doing well. I've been sporadically making videos but avoiding regular uploads because I don't want to be beholden to a schedule and burn myself out. I feel like I should have been more actively commenting on your stuff instead of lurking as much as I have been but I've enjoyed almost every vid you've put out and I'm still enjoying your musical output pretty often. Yeah I've been sporadically making videos but it's mostly just been still images with tape recorded music playing. This community is such an oddball niche that feels archival in a sense. When tape recording was more common people weren't making videos on how to do it yourself and then disseminating said videos because obviously the internet didn't exist yet. The amount of people who know how to record to tape is starting to dwindle as tape machines are concurrently becoming less ubiquitous. Thank you Mike for you contribution to the archive of analog recording here on KZbin!

Hi Mike, Yeah good idea to step away from this awhile. I read a book a month ago "KZbin formula" and realized to have a sucessful channel requires tons of attention to watching analitics and creating content and I thought would I rather spend my time focusing on KZbin or focus on creating music? Me personally, I'd rather spend time on churning out music and learning about how to make better music. I dont think i'd have the comitment to churn out videos every day like some people do.... One channel I watch this dude churns out 3 or 4 videos everyday... wow!! thats gotta be a lot of work.

Music, recording oriented channels are really hard on KZbin. Some people make barely one song in a year. For serious music people, making it big on KZbin means sacrificing their music creativity/music practice time. Doing KZbin is almost counter productive. I learned to upload videos that are totally not related to music. It was really fulfilling, mentally, uploading stuff that are totally not music related and get some comments.

Happy New Year....the for your vids, especially on the Model 12. It's normal to need a break....after a recording project, it usually takes me a month or 2 to come back to the table. KZbin must be even more of a challenge. See you down the road!

Somehow I missed this video before but I can’t even express how much these videos have meant to me over the years. I probably would have never gotten into the 4 track recording and indie in the way that I have if I hadn’t found your channel when I did. I still have all your albums in my active rotation. Hope you’re doing well and are able to find that creative spark again

Mike, hope you're doing well! I just wanted to tell you, that I feel exactly the same for about a year now. Maybe even longer. I hope it'll change at some point but it feels like me and my creative side is broken or I'm simply burned out somehow. It's weird, but somehow it feels good to hear, that someone doing a similar thing, feels the same way. Still I don't wish this for anybody. Thanks for sharing your thoughts so honestly. I always struggled with that. I guess I feared my followers would just take awaythe negatives of my thinking from it - however much I'd try to focus on the positive aspects of that journey. Anyways - stay healthy and happy and thanks for all your amazing videos here! I really enjoy them.

@@424Recording yup winters coming, they’ll be re-enacting the basement tapes as they do every winter. I heard a bunch of violins and banjos were stolen from a music shop in Woodstock…
