Glad you got home safe. Do your daughters realize how much you love them. A lot of dads would've said "I'm not getting the snowmobiles out for that little bit of snow" Glad that you had very little problems with the sleds. They can be a maintenance nightmare. Especially the older machines. You're a good papa.

I've been traveling for over 20 years throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico, your travel story brings back a lot of memories, good and bad, glad you made it home safe, I drive everywhere now, staying in the mid-west area, cannot stand getting on a plane. Those older snowmobiles bring back a lot of memories with my kids as well, great short video!!

Hi Neil, this is my first time commenting on any of your videos. I started watching your channel when you began the Pond project and immediately became a subscriber. I enjoy everything you post, your narrations and the occasional dad jokes that you slip in. I especially enjoy how you show us the behind the scenes in what it takes to produce these videos. An amazing amount of work and commitment. I just wanted to say thank you for producing and posting these videos and I do hope, for selfish purposes, that I will continue to see your videos in the future.

I feel like you over criticize a bit.... pretty sure 99% of us just love seeing our weekly update from a fantastic family. Though production and editing are fairly important, its your content and wholesomeness that makes your channel great ❤

Great „no video“ .. during your pond series, KZbin decided to show me your videos in my feed. I was intrigued, stayed on and got to like your laid back attitude. It’s gotten to the point where I’m looking forward to Sunday for your videos. My main takeaway from your videos are not necessarily the projects, while interesting but how you and your (extended) family interact. So, I’m firmly in the camp “not every video needs a big production”. KZbin has a tendency to burn out creators, so take care and just do your thing.. And if I’m lucky I will see you next time. 😉 Greetings from Germany

Fun stuff Neil and I am certain you know how blessed you are with family so close and a supportive partner. I know you work hard and have earned everything you have and that is what I enjoy seeing. Just to know how life could be instead of the hand I was dealt. Great kids and I bet it was hard for them seeing all that snow and you out of town, but they know you would be there if you could. And you came through before the snow completely melted. You have a great family.

This fall, I had some technicians work with our internal video group who produce for local television. It was very interesting how they shot it, and it basically took most of the day to shoot two 5 min videos for internal groups to watch. I was amazed when the producer told me that the rule of thumb is a 10 to 1 ratio. 10 minutes of shooting for one minute of video. That was in Oct, and it is now Jan, and we are just finalizing the videos after numerous edits, voice-over changes, video light, color changes, and, of course, the ever changing "approvals.....". So, the fact that you shoot these, edit them, and put them up in a week is pretty amazing. Good work.
@digdrivediy6 сағат бұрын
Yes, it is quite a bit. Usually for me there is one hour of work behind every minute of video. This one is an exception as it only took me 3 hours or so to edit it but usually it is a fair bit more effort. Thanks for the comment and perspective!
@stromxtc20335 сағат бұрын
This is why they have academy awards for editing. It will make or break a production, and Neil just knows how organically, with a little practice over last 10 ys or so.

Every time it snowed big or little my sister n i would wait for my dad to get home n b so excited to see his truck pull in the driveway we were suited up n would meet him outside to ask CAN WE GET THE SNOMOBILES OUT lol with a big smile on his face let me get my coveralls on he would say then him n I would spend next several hours digging them out of the shed pulling spark plugs spraying gas n pulling out guts out lol. They were my dads sleds b I was born I’m an 80s baby n the sleds were all 70s sled but we still have them to this day a lot of memories on them tho thanks for sharing

No worries, one-take videos are always enjoyable. Maybe in a future video you can update us on your "new" firewood rack, like how long it lasts before needing to split more, what you would do different (if anything), was it worth the effort, etc...
