I love my Prym needles as a veteran crocheter and apprentice knitter they are so easy to use. The little "bead" at the tip really helps grab the yarn just like a crochet hook.

The Seeded rib has a K3, P1 rhythm to the stitching and the Mistake (stitch) rib has a K2, P2 rhythm to the stitching so they are different fabrics and behave differently. Seeded rib feels firmer than Mistake stitch rib. That is stretchier than Seeded rib and needs a multiple of 4 plus 3 extra sts. It is a 1-row pattern so very easy to learn: *K2, P2, repeat from * to the last 3 stitches, K2, P1. It got it's name, the legend goes, because someone wanted to do 2x2 ribbing and accidently cast on 1 stitch less than they needed - which would have been a multiple of 4. :-)

I like the seeded rib. However, I like the more finished sides when slipping the first stitch (and last stitch? I don't remember, but I can find that out, I'm sure.) Can I slip the beginning stitches and keep the pattern without that first stitch? Looking forward to your input/

How do you do a seeded rib stitch when decreasing?
