Great video - maybe you should write what you fixed on the inside of the cover so you can know next time? Like your boiler tags.

Hey Steve, do you have a specific brand for capacitors and contactors? Thanks

Good Job. However you should have saw the bottom contactor (have a greenish arc) Contact points are bad, Replc that too.

Mine was 25+ when I decided to pull the trigger and upgrade. Once the hard start kit went on I knew it was time. Went with a Trane and yes my electric bill dropped quite a bit but it's not as frosty. I should have thrown in another Goodman.

Love the videos Steve question though from what I have learned as a DIYer for my home is that after power is off you should short a screwdriver across the terminals on the Cap to release the stored energy! I watch alot of your videos and never see u mention or do that? Am i missing something? Thank you for the videos
@logan21954 жыл бұрын
Gregg Shockey new capacitors rarely hold charge after they are unplugged. I’ve found it a few times that they do but it’s rare. The old style capacitors will hold charge but not the new ones.
@Carnivorefitness20244 жыл бұрын
Yes you should short them with an insulated screwdriver like you said regardless just to be safe, some have a a discharge resister soldered on you can see between the terminals, those will self discharge, but always short anyway, with power off of course.

Last year my unit blew all the cooling fluid in about 10 min. Friday night the same thing happen again. What could be causing this to happen. I feel like they fixed it, but not the root of the problem
@Fireship14 жыл бұрын
A massive refrigerant leak. A leak that big should be easy for a tech to find. Hopefully it’s not in the evaporator or condenser coil.

Could this be done without jumping common to common? My two caps arent jumped and my system works fine. The compressor cap has a common and herm, the fan cap has a common and fan. Am i missing something? Anyone who knows more than me feel free to answer. Thanks

AS soon as i heard that buzz i knew the capacitor was toast. Quick and easy fix.
@speckulator75164 жыл бұрын
Every now and then it doesn’t help so you add a hard start kit. And sometimes that doesn’t work and the compressor is just dead and, unless it’s in warranty, it’s time for a new condenser or system.
