Can we get a follow up video on this? Did the super glue/baking soda hold indefinitely? Or did you have to find a replacement pan? I'm in the same position right now but I have to lift the coil off of the pan to bring it out and get to the crack. The plastic pan is no longer available for my Carrier unit either. Thinking of finding someone who does metal work and ask them to replicate it using sheetmetal. I know it's not a straightforward design like yours but I gotta try!

Super glue was temp fix. Ended up replacing the pan. Not so hard :-). If the crack is in a easy to reach and fix area the super glue will hold and infact hardware stores sell marine super glue that sheds water and is actually a much better choice. My pan had a crack in a bad spot where I could not get it to seal up 100% so I replaced it.

@@icanfixit5989 can you replace the pan without replacing the coil because my AC guy said there’s no way to replace the pan without replacing the entire coil costing $3300 he said it’s attached and it’s not possible to do one without the other everything is functioning properly except for this leak and I really can’t afford to spend $3300 on this

@@outofthebox9913 For my situation I was able to replace the pan without and issue. I supported the coil from overhead with a 2*4 and some rope in the duct. I'm 100 percent sure a HVAC guy would not do this so do this at your own risk. If an HVAC guy attempts to replace the pan and if something breaks they will not want to be on the hook for a broken system, however I was able to do this with no problems and only slight complications like getting the new pan in place.

@@outofthebox9913 Again for my situation I was able to lift the coil enough that I was able to slide the old plastic pan out and slide a new pan in. Not all systems are the same and your situation may be different. The pans are relatively inexpensive so if you can do this it will save quite a bit of money. Again you must be mindful that the coil is attached in the system and does have a fluid in it so you don't want to break anything. Being gentle is key.

My ac guy said a crack in the pan cannot be sealed or repaired without replacing the entire coil costing 3,200$. Any advice. Is this something companies just don’t like to do and why.

No company would like this so they can make 3200 for removing the coil.

I would bet with 3D printers as common as they are you could have one printed for way less than 3k and probably with a stronger material
