As a former auto mechanic I've done plenty of automotive HVAC work. I found this an interesting video. Sometimes when I recovered a R134A system I wondered what I might be recovering.

I think Goodman can be a fine piece of equipment if installed correctly.. just like anything else they all have similar or interchangeable parts. Better than York for sure. With these rooftop units I highly recommend you keep the coils clean if you have water access. With pressures of R410A things can go south quick- airflow is crucial.

If you would have taken that straight section of pipe out of that 90 that has a flare on it the flare would if it perfectly inside there without having to crimp the pipe on the condensing unit to make it fit

My Goodman (ac/heat ) has lasted over 16years up here in northern 🇨🇦 Replaced the fan blower motor 5years ago .. no other issues… our temperatures range from minus -40c in the 9 months of winter to plus 30c in our 3 months summer.. I’m a diesel mechanic not a air/furnace technician it was easy to install.. blower fan motor cost $200 dollars and another $250 dollars to ship it up here ( HudsonBay area)🇨🇦 Cheers

I don’t know why you just hacked up the low side connection by crimping semi closed instead of getting or making a fitting to side in and braze it like normal it might not leak now but give it some time I’m sure it’s already leaking and if the unit fails you are on the hook for it in court mind you hmmmm best of luck

Can’t you break vacuum by shutting your core tool and releasing gas from condenser? I saw you bled off from refrigerant tank to manifold (yellow hose) but how about from manifold to unit? Did that hose have air in it? Maybe I missed it?
@ApartmentMaintenancePro
@ApartmentMaintenancePro Жыл бұрын
You can break vacuum by opening up the valves yes but you probably don’t want a lot of pressure going through the micron gauge so isolate that if you can

When you broke vacuum, why didn't you turn the tank over to get a true blend of the two components that make up R410a?
@ApartmentMaintenancePro
@ApartmentMaintenancePro 2 жыл бұрын
1/100th of a 40/60 blend of gas into a system to break vacuum will make no difference. Im sure my math is wrong but - prove me wrong.
@testtesting2868

@@ApartmentMaintenancePro You are correct, it's not much gas that you introduced ... just not the correct way. Introducing as a liquid gives the correct blend of difluoromethane and pentafluoroethane.

Thank you, great video, one thing I am interested in, the Goodman manual, for the unit I will install tomorrow states: "Open the suction service valve first! If the liquid service valve is opened first, oil from the compressor may be drawn into the indoor coil TXV, restricting refrigerant flow and affecting operation of the system". I see in the video you opened the liquid line first. Was there any issues with the system after doing so? Thank you very much!
@ApartmentMaintenancePro
@ApartmentMaintenancePro 3 жыл бұрын
No there were not. I've had the privilege of working a property for 8 years and never had that issue. But, I would recommend following the manual to be safe. I knew I was going to get called out on that.
