Godnotes for Android and Windows is still just in a beta state. So you can't expect too much of it. What I don't get is that they charge for this half finished app.

They are developing the app by using progressive web apps; it's completely lazy and results in an unoptimised and clunky experience. I don't understand how after years of revenue from iOS, they choose to not invest in creating native apps for both Windows and Android.

What I don’t get is if you pay an one off fee which is about 3 years worth of annual subscription fee you need to pay extra fee annually to use other platforms. 😂😂😂😂 is the company assuming there will be no Goodnotes 7 in 3 years time? It basically wants people to subscribe the annual plan and hoping people will forget to cancel the subscription and keep paying even they no longer use Goodnotes.

hi!! you should definitely do what note taking apps you recommend for windows and android. I have the surface pro 9 and i don’t really like taking notes using one note and currently i have been using the goodnotes windows version for my notes. It is very limited but i can’t seem to find a notes taking app as good. I tried the microsoft journal and that’s great BUT there’s some limitations such as less template options. So i would love to see what u would recommend 💕💕

I paid 9.99 for a crippled web only sack of crap. In portrait mode I can't even use lasso, elements or laser. There are no hyperlinks. No importing of existing stickers. Nothing. Noteshelf is better Samsung Notes is better. Penly is better. Flexil is better. Lecture Notes is better. I really can't think of anything that's worse than this.. Oh, forgot to add it's unbelievably laggy, pen jumps around and sometimes features don't activate at all no matter how many times you click on them. Disappointing is putting it mildly

The Goodnotes Android version is frustrating. I can do without the several pen options and I don’t even mind how tedious it is to add fonts and the other little inconveniences. But not being able to use hyperlinks is a huge turn off. I’ve tried everything but I haven’t found a solution. I’m using Penny whenever I use my Samsung tablet. It is way more user friendly compared to Goodnotes. Great video!

You are not missing anything, hyperlinks are not working at all. Maybe they will update and add this feature. There is an area to vote on which elements they need to add for future versions.

I got my tab s9 ultra and automatically got 1 year subscription for free ,but it's a big downside ,that it can't do half of the ipad version .But I found one called MindNotes and it's very similar to the ipad goodnotes and I think I would buy the pro version because u can do much more than with goodnotes.

@isthatmatterr it's better to look up in Google play the subscriptions tab and look when it runs out and how long before you need to cancel to not run into further payments

Thanks a lot for making this video! I was planning to use Goodnotes on an iPad (been a Goodnotes 4 user for a long time, but willing to upgrade iPad and app in order to have Goodnotes on both iPad) and my Windows desktop. Was even considering instead of a new iPad getting a Galaxy tab... But now, no thank you! Better to wait till Goodnotes gets its Windows (and Android) apps in order. Windows notes apps have been so disappointing, too, so would like to see updated recommendations from you, especially for apps that do work just as well on both iPad and Windows.

Glad I found this video! So helpful as I thought I was going crazy not being able to use the hyperlinks. I have a Surface Go and recently started using a digital planner. I am currently now using Xodo but has limitations also.

I agree that this wasn't ready for release. The thing that is missing for me is search. If you are going to make notes you need to be able to search for the information in your notes. With paper notes you could make an index of information if you took the time. Not being able to find information in your notes makes them useless to me. I do agree that not being able to use hyperlinks is also a big flaw in Goodnotes for Android. I've never used Goodnotes for iPad but I sure hope it is better than this! It was a highly rated app on iPad. Bill

I really hate how you can only sync Goodnotes on iCloud, the iPad is the only Apple device that I own that uses iCloud, I don't understand how you can backup on Dropbox as PDF but cannot use Dropbox the sync your files

I agree it is not worth purchasing right now. I bought the iOS version for $30 but then thought maybe I made a mistake and should’ve bought the individual yearly fee but changed my mind since Microsoft version didn’t appear to be able to be the same. Why I would’ve liked it is I have iPhone and iPad but Microsoft windows desktop if I can’t integrate back-and-forth between the two it’s not worth it to me. Yes at a later time they come up with matching Microsoft app then I will decide how to handle the price then.

That's such a bummer for those with android tablets- I didn't think the functionality would be that different from what's available on the ipad. I use an ipad myself, but was hoping to use on my windows computer at some point...not sure I will. Especially without hyperlinks!!

@@Nikki.Penguin True, but just like the Goodnotes 6 release that I feel came a little too early- promising features people keep asking for soon without any actual timeframe for them, I think they should have made this software a little more functional before releasing the beta. I think there are going to be a lot of people that try it now that they've announced the cross platform capabilities and see it's not really very functional and won't try it again. :/

Nope, just use drawboard pdf. It`s the ONLY pdf annotation program for Windows/Apple that is useful.

I see people are able to select hyperlinks when they turn off editiing mode and go into read only when hitting the pen icon in the top right corner, can you confirm this?

I tried on goodnotes on my galaxy tab and I can confirm you that hyperlinks work in read only mode. I'm trying to work on a Etsy template, it's almost 2000 pages. The hyperlinks work but it's very slow/heavy and goodnotes did crash.

Not sure if this is a newer feature or not but on good notes windows you have to have it in view mode and then the hyperlinks work! So just unselect the pen and scribble icon at the top right of the screen!

When I use any pen the text is literally jumping on the page. I can’t write anything in Android version. I have Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite. So I don’t use GoodNotes on my Samsung Tablet at all :)

Penly works great for Android. Until hyperlinks and text boxes work for Android it can't compete.

Thanks for the video. I’m pleased to see Goodnotes for Windows, despite the fact it’s not quite as polished yet as the IOS version…I note on their website that they’re planning further updates/improvements. I really like the IOS version, but the majority of my uni work is done on a Surface (as Word for IOS is just not as intuitive having grown up on Windows computers), however OneNote is too much for my needs…Goodnotes hits the spot for me.

I just found this video, and it has helped soo much as a Samsung tablet user. When I go to import, it pops up chose an action, and then gives me option to import my planner with camera, camera camcorder, or media picker. I do not have the paid subscription to Goodnotes. And I also have the same issue with not going to links . This is where I get stuck. HELP!

I'm thinking about buying an iPad 11 pro... but many say I'll pay more because it's from Apple... I don't know if a Samsung Tab is right for me since I want to take notes, edit in PDF (highlight, write), make slides for university, I also want to use it as a computer since I have seen that there is the option of using a wireless keyboard and mouse. If anyone could recommend me or give me advice I would greatly appreciate it. I have also heard about the Surface pro...

Hi there, the app doesnt work at all on my tablet (samsung s7 fe), so im really confused- the pen doesnt respond at all, its like writing with 7 seconds of delays- also the whole app is laggy and unusable for me 😢

They only took this app out of Beta just to charge money. It still feels like an unfinished app, and an app still in beta. I dont get that they charge for an app that is unfinshed and compared to the iOS version, seriously lacks features. I mean, it's still a pwa, needs internet access to function, has very limited features, yet they charge? Are they unaware that there are more than a dozen similar types of apps on Android that are light years better, some free?
