Hermitcraft 9 Episode 2: Expanding The TreeHouse & SURPRISE!

Hermitcraft season 9 episode 2! We start out big with our Minecraft let's play ep 2 on the Hermitcraft 9 server with a massive starter treehouse base. The design of the survival base will be elven-themed. Once we complete the treehouse, I'll build my dream Minecraft build.
We start the episode by showing my new custom Elf ears off and going caving for diamonds with Grian. We test how best to get diamonds in Minecraft 1.18. Also, I build my starter base inside my elven-themed treehouse base. Hope you enjoy the episode and see you in the next Hermitcraft video to finish the base!

He filled a storage silo of double chests packed with shulkers of leaves and it still wasn't enough in the end. Or at least I don't think it was. I don't remember him finishing, but I think he came close. I remember watching and thinking to myself "you know, if Iskall exploited some duplication glitches at this point I wouldn't even be upset, 'cus he's already wasted literally over a hundred hours at this point collecting leaves and he's got a long way to go."

Scar, here's a quick tip: When you're mining, use your crafting bench to turn iron, redstone and copper into blocks. It REALLY saves inventory space early game. Hope this helps :)

Take 1 stack of logs when caving, its my oldest Minecraft habit. It used to be to make little safe spots with chests and a crafting table to return for resources. (Also to make torches with) Now its to keep a crafting table to compress resources. (I forget the math but fortune almost never drops over 9 items so blocks are more compact than silk touch) It may be advisable to take coal blocks with you to make coal for torches since coal doesn't generate at deepslate level. (Technically it can but coal deepslate is ultra rare and should only be silked if you find it)

@@ano_nym wood to charcoal is inefficient but works in an emergency. (Fortune 3 in a stony peaks is so much faster than chopping trees, also inventory space: 1 slot of wood it 1 slot of coal but 1 slot of coal blocks is 9 stacks of coal for torches and the wood is for sticks for torches so every charcoal made costs 8 sticks worth 32 torches to make a charcoal for 4 torches) And yes deepslate coal is rare enough it should be kept as a souvenir/flex. Or an ultra rare building block.

Diamonds - best areas for me in 1.18: strip/branch mining at Y -59 (just at the top of bedrock level) and caving (bring a stack of logs and coal blocks)

Having an underground lake with dim lights under the tree would be so tolkein-esque. I could imagine a submerged Lothrlorien type of thing looking so cool As always though, your attention to detail and the way everything is so deliberately placed stands out so much. Definitely going to use that tower design as inspiration for what Im currently building

When the super fast build mode music came on, I got the biggest grin on my face. The base looks incredible already, Scar! I'm enjoying this season a ton so far and can't wait to see what else is coming. Thanks!

Maximum diamonds per hour: -go to Y=5 (lowest level bedrock won't get in your way). Diamonds now simply spawn more often the lower you go. -make 2x2 tunnel in one direction for several blocks -every 4 blocks do a branch mine perpendicular to the main tunnel (so there's 3 blocks between each branch tunnel, this exposes the most area. It's unlikely one diamond will spawn alone in the middle block) -mine 5 blocks forward at a time, so your pick measures it for you without thinking -every 10 blocks place a torch -mine straight until you find one deposit of diamonds -go back to 2x2 tunnel, do another branch mine the opposite direction until you find one deposit of diamonds -keep extending the 2x2 tunnel forwards making branches each side This covers the maximum area for minimum walking. You find diamonds about every 5 minutes. I like doing it this way because it's really chill, there's no caves or thinking you can just listen to a podcast or chat to people on your server.

You should totally look up Minecraft Middle-Earth! They built Lothlorien which is a forest of huge trees with a whole city amongst the branches! Accurate to the Lotr books too
