I briefly worked at a thrift store when I got laid off years ago. We would have a crowd of people like vultures, hoovering around our door. Wanting to examine everything before we could take 2 steps on the floor. It was really annoying. Then there were the regulars always bringing items up to us, trying to get us to mark things down for them. Could hardly do our job.

Those leather couches with the bonded overs are good structurally but the bonded fake leather should be avoided. Upholsteryfabric can be gotten at a fabric store online to replace the bonded crap it's not hard to reupholster a chair or a couch. Just take a video as you take off the junk and copy placement of all materials when doing the work in reverse.

The terra Cotta angel with the stopper in the back is a room freshener. You add scented oil through the hole, stop it uo, and its released through the porous terra cotta. A very 80s decor piece.

I used to shop at Goodwill, too, until a couple of years ago when I discovered the Big Cheeses at GW make somewhere between $200 thousand and 1 million dollars per year (depending on what internet search you do). I also found out that employees with disabilities are often paid less than minimum wage (as low as 22 cents per hour), whistleblowers have been fired, and safety issues have led to tragedy. Is it any wonder the so-called employees don't want to be camera? Now my fave thrift store is The Humane Society Thrift Store, also the fave of all our town which voted it the Best Thrift Store - even against GW! We also have thrift stores for hospice, Teen Challenge, and other local charities. I try to be even more ETHICAL about where my little money goes.

Where I live there is a huge amount of rental properties and their lease often expires around Xmas. It often costs more in U-Haul fees to move the stuff rather than buying new stuff so everything gets put on the front lawn for what is called hard waste disposal where the local council gets called to pick it up for free.......People even leave signs on their washing machine saying perfectly good washing machine but it's a hassle to move it ( so others collect it).......I could deck out a whole house with the good quality items neighbors throw out for hard waste at Xmas.
