Today I go thrifting at Goodwill and Salvation Army in Las Vegas. I am looking for items to flip online. I share what I buy and what I pass. I end up going back to one thrift store to find something for only $6 and its regularly sells for $200 plus.

I’ve actually seen the Dollar Tree items in Goodwill after a holiday, like Valentines Day, and they were selling the $1.25 items for $3 and $4! I was like what the h*** is going on?!?! So I could have bought it at Dollar Tree during the holiday, but after you want to spend 3 - 4 times more?!?? I think not!!!!

I makes sense if you think about it. Originally Goodwill (and most other thrift stores) were designed for the poor/needy to have access to quality goods at an affordable rate. With the very public rise in the popularity of reselling their demographic has shifted. They shifted with it.

Marquis of Waterford was a lower-priced line made in China. It wasn't around long. Didn't sell, and the resale isn't worth the effort of taking it out of the store. Only buy if you want to use it yourself. Real Waterford doesn't always sell a lot better, probably because it's heavy and fragile and an expensive *itch to ship. (Ill Will doens't like shipping it either and puts it in the locked case with a $tupid price tag.) My local Ill Will can be a source once in a while, but if I spend more than $5 in a week these days it includes sales tax. I did find a silver picture frame in there not long ago. but it only holds a 2x3 photo. They even scan the coffee mugs before putting them out, so that frame was a major mistake.

Resellers have ruined thrifting for general thrifters. It’s the resellers (along with the thrifts stores ability to look up what things are worth/selling for new) that have driven up the pricing. Fast fashion has also diluted the good finds at thrift stores. I used to love thrifting growing up. Now it’s often depressing.
