That Spode Christmas tree dish you picked up is a collectors item! My grandmother had a whole set of that China for service of 12. The dinner plates, salad plates, bowls, tea cups/plates, mugs, serving platters, gravy boat, etc. I was supposed to inherit it after she passed but a lot of it got “lost” when my family was cleaning out her house. I have one box of miscellaneous items now.

I have a complete service for 12 with a bunch of the serving pieces (it became really popular and Spode ended up going crazy and making all kinds of pieces that weren’t really practical). I knew my mother always wanted the Christmas tree patterned dishes so starting when I was about 18, I bought her some every year for a few years until she had service for 8 plus the serving pieces. (She bought more after that) It wasn’t popular then and it was hella expensive and NEVER on sale. I found out later that it wasn’t the Spode Christmas tree she had liked. It was the Nikko Christmas tree china with the fluted edge (not the hexagonal) and, back then, it was cheaper than the Spode. I asked her why she never said anything and she said she didn’t want to hurt my feelings! So now it’s mine and will be my daughter’s which makes me happy since, like you, she thinks if it as her grandmother’s and has great memories of it! I’m sorry you were denied your chance to have that experience. So m

Girl my son and I were renting a home ,a fire broke out putting us in a crappy hotel for almost a year, we just got into another home that will one day be ours and due to losing everything we owned, thrift stores and goodwill has furnished what we have so far in our house. We r saving and searching thrift stores for Christmas tree and decorations. I lost my job during pandemic and don't no how we would have had clothes without goodwill. I managed gifts for my immediate fam and have a lovely kind neighbor making a wreath for me from scratch with the wreath form I provided her. Super sweet gesture. I need to do some baking and mail a package to my mom and then wrap for my partner and stuff for my caregiver and maybe will have five minutes to relax before Xmas. Maybe hahaha. I was struggling with fatigue and depression over everything going on here but got out shopping last night and it perked me up a bit. I didn’t even buy more than a few baking ingredients and stocking stuffers for my mother but it helped a little.

Decorations r off I just can't bring myself to put tree away. Just something magical about the lights. Our Christmas went well I managed gifts for our 13 yr old as well as our my grandaughters. My oldest son is 35 and dad to my amazing grandaughters, my middle son is 32 and have step grandaughter with him. Lost one son almost 7 yrs ago, he would be 33 then our surprise son is 13. My kids and grandchildren are my world.

I love all of the pics!!!! Gorgeous. I like the action shot ones bc they also give some story to the photo. Super cute. The ones where one kid is caught off guard with a scowl always crack me up too! Great job getting all that done on the fly. No wonder you lost weight. You moved, thanksgivinged, rainbow partied, unpacked, shopped, videoed and edited. I always wondered how you stay thin snd still eat brownies got breakfast and heavenly hunks. Lol. Maybe that’s all you got all day?! Now you have Xmas. No rest for the weary. So my mom always said she would give herself the day after Xmas off and make sure that she had a new book and her favorite candy and would lay on the couch and read. I honestly don’t remember her taking a lot of time doing something like that but she tried. Lol. She was likely putting away the toys and junk opened up from Xmas and cleaning up from all the dining and unwrapping and guests. Hope you can slate a day to relax and take in the nice weather and just enjoy the view of the lake. You may need to sneak out onto the upstairs balcony and not tell anyone and close the door so they can’t find you. Hope you are feeling well and your grief is getting a little more settled in now.
