Goofy German Shepherd Thinks He’s Baby and Keeps Playing With Toddler | Cuddle Buddies

The previous owners of Ace didn't want him anymore, so Amanda accepted the German Shepherd as a pet. However, Amanda's daughters were afraid of the dog because he was nippy. But after training, the puppy learned to be gentle and calm and befriended the girls. He built up strong bonds with all of them, especially with the baby Tommy.

first six-nine months is always difficult with a pup and kids, but as long as trained once they're 1yr it gets easier particularly if you get the kids to do the controlled feeding/treating. gsd are partic protectoive of their unit once bonded, and very tolerant of human pups in my experience

I've seen families try this foolishness. One ended up with a Shepherd attacking, biting, and badly hurting a young boy. Stop this overeager nonsense pretending that this all works out well. It often doesn't. Stop it.

I used to have a next door neighbor that had a golden retriever that had been abandoned (i was shocked when I heard that!!). Two years to train her, the first six months to convince her that when mum and dad left in the morning to go to work, that YES, they were coming home that day. Both my kids learned how to walk thanks to that beautiful dog. They'd crawl over, grab hold and stand up, she'd wait till they were stable on their feet and then slowly move forward and they walked holding on to her. It's important to train your dogs on how to act around people but it's also important to teach your kids how to behave around and with the dogs too. Your kids obviously have a great bond with Ace and it's wonderful see that they return the love too. Great job and thanks for sharing

Growing up we had 22 German Shepherds. But one in particular never left my side since I was born. Tommy would rock my cradle when I would start crying. I considered him my big brother. He was exceptionally intelligent, gentle, and protective. This video brought back a lot of special memories for me about Tommy and the rest of the gang. We loved them all!

I got my first German shepherd for my 13th birthday from my grandad and sandy was a rescue. He was about 2 years old. My older sister had a baby girl Fiona then. And when our sister would come to visit with Fiona Sandy would be right beside her pram or being right beside who was holding her. Very protective of Fiona. Since then I have never been without German shepherd's. Got 2 just now Odin and misty. They still protect my sister granddaughters Lucy and Brooke. Lucy is Fiona's Daughter. We also live right beside a primary school and all the children and teachers know misty and Odin. We have to keep them on their leads if not when the kids are out for playtime or lunchtime they will go into the school and run around with the kids. Some kids used to be scared of them both. Because of their size now they are all used to Odin and misty. German shepherd's is a brilliant breed of dog and I've said it before and I'll say it again you don't get an ugly German shepherd brilliant breed. I am biased ofcourse. From 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Oh how I LOVE this video! Our GSD, Hoss, was the exact same way with our daughter when she was a baby. They grew up together and were best friends to the day he died. A few years later we got another GSD named Gus. She was 12 and she developed the exact same relationship with him. Twelve years later, we said goodbye to him (last month). My daughter is devastated; we're hoping to get a new baby this fall. Hopefully the tradition is carried on with our new pup. Best. Breed. Ever.

Dogs are amazing with babies. My ex used to have an Irish Wolfhound that was never exposed to little kids until friends came by with one that was just starting to crawl. She was very curious about this thing moving around on the floor and once actually moved over to lay down between the baby and the stairs. Dogs know. Watching this brought a tear to my eyes. Our Sasha is a 5-year-old Black Shepherd and she is so gentle and caring and protective of my daughter. She is the same as Ace in that she will cuddle my daughter if she is not well and stay with her until she feels a bit better. Sasha is our baby and is at her cheekiest when trying to "con" a treat out of you. We love her so much.

Your Shepherd will never harm anyone in house. I had one with 2kids for 17 yrs and he watched them like a hawk. He will tell you when something is wrong. I suggest you listen to him. Best dogs ever!

I have three children growing up with GSD. Never once have any of my dogs shown anything besides 100% love to their family. I was a K-9 officer in Scandinavia. I know for sure that if my best friend who has four legs was with my children. They were safe.

Had to watch it again! You have a winner with him! Excellent temperament which only indicates how ‘you’ trained him in such a way that he understood and complied. Actually it takes 2-years of consistent and fair training for a dog to turn a page and it all comes together. Teach him new things every year and practice reviewing commands even on walks. Don’t forget to close any command with a word which tells a dog that the command is finished. Yup, I miss having them! You can even whisper to them especially when you know it will be something they like or really enjoy!

You couldn't have a better protector, friend, and family dog, all rolled up into one. Your children will remember Ace forever. I have a 12 1/2 yr old female, and she's everything I wanted in a family dog. With rising crime, and with my wife and I in our 60s, she's a nice deterrent for the home, too. Fortunately, she's still healthy. When the time comes, I'll buy another German Shepherd, even in my 70s.
