Google Interview Experience for Cloud Engineer

Hi guys, recently I was interviewed at Google for a cloud technology solution engineer and here's what my experience was, not very good though, very not so flexible interview process and they don't care about what the person has done in his or her previous job.

I totally felt your pain. Recently I did a few system design interviews with AWS . The format/conversation became "weird". We jump back and forth between high-level and low-level design on different topics. I'm just lost and don't know how to organize the conversation/thoughts. The lesson learned is that "system design requires lots of preparation like coding" regardless of what you have been done before

I also recently interviewed with Google. Felt the same as you explained. They could probably use a robot to ask questions and record it. It wasn't conversational at all. Disrespectful feeling. After some time we would feel is there somebody listening at all?!

I also gave interview for Data Engineer at Google. I was told that I will get problems based on DSA so I wasted my lot of time on learning DSA. But in coding interview they asked me questions on python file handling. And I messed up because of synatx.

Could you please share what other technical questions were asked by the recruiter apart from the programming one? Was it SQL, DSA, Cloud?

I got interviewed with Google 3 times for different positions and got rejected. 😅 The 4th time they contacted me i told i am not interested. Now, when i look back i am really satisfied where i am. System design sucks.

A month before I got call from google for the same cloud technical solution engineer role. I was shortlisted from the screening test and then have attended the prep session as well but later didn’t got any call/mail from the recruiter reg the interview schedule. Dropped couple of emails but no response. At least they should let the candidate know if the application is not gonna be further processed for some reason, it’s just waste of my time.

Hey, this is super insightful. I have an interview lined up for the same position and out of the gate, I realised that they want someone with deep understanding of Linux. Is this something that you experienced in your interview as well? Unfortunately, my understanding of Linux is very limited to the tools and functionalities that I was required to use in my previous roles.

No, my interview was more focussed on system design and coding, I have a good exp of Linux but there were no Linux questions asked

you can get maybe a day or 2 between the rounds, or you can do them back to back, yes you can ask the recruiters about the details of each round

I get why they would not ask initially about prior experience if that's what the recruiter did, but it sounded like a lot of wasted time with repeated technical interviews.

Yeah, they can either reduce the number of rounds or structure the interview better

I have also same experience Google recruiter reach out me for technical cloud engineer role they didn't ask for my resume till the end round. I also stuck at system design round but my overall experience they didn't give me enough time to prepare for that role.
