You were not too hard on him.. You gave him much needed advice that he appreciated and will improve on. You also gave him praise for the positive aspects of his trade so I’m sure he left feeling good and ready to improve on his faults, over leaving feeling demoralized and second guessing himself. This video highlights why it’s important to critique someone.
@Steven-T
@Steven-T 2 жыл бұрын
Exactly. It wasn't just ragging on him for every little thing without any praise. It was rough love because this guy has some glaring errors which he needs to correct. Also, the fact this trade was profitable can ingrain those bad habits even deeper than if he was reviewing a losing trade.
@etfremd

@@Steven-T that's a little harsh. He did an excellent job picking off the bottom turn. He just needs to apply those same skills to identify his profit target. IMHO these are not easy trades.

You were blunt and to the point, it saves time and allows for clarification to prevent possible future errors. The beautiful thing about blunt people is that you never have to guess what they think of you or the job that you are doing. They are more than happy to tell you.

Mike out here crushing dreams! J/K You didn't just correct him you complimented the things he did well, and the things you corrected will help him get better. I don't think you did it in a way that hurt his confidence either and he seemed to handle it well. He knew you were trying to help him improve. The fact that you think about whether or not you were too hard on him makes me think you care about giving feedback in the best way possible that helps traders improve. I really enjoy the videos from SMB. I've learned more here than any other channel I watch. Thank you!

@@smbcapital thanks for these lessons.. next time maybe give an example of what an area would look like instead of a level. If a stock gets to an area he says rejects then pulls back again to the same area.. sometimes it doesnt pull back second time, if it pulls back the second time look at the tape and see if big money is stepping in ? like what would be the aha im pulling trigger?. thx

Were you too hard on him? Only you and he know that - depends on your relationship and trust with each other. I love how he arrived at the anchored VWAP after you consistently shot down every other VWAP. Seems like a sharp young man. With respect to the trade review - outstanding information. I think he did a great job with the trade plan and presentation.

To be fair- It was probably oversold on the rsi intraday, which is why its a “bounce play.” Also, Ive backtested trading using the VIX with a 10 sma on the 30 second time frame for confirmation to enter trades and identify intraday reversals- I got that idea when i heard you mention the VIX in one of your old videos which increased my win rate, thank you for these videos.

When I watch these trades I learn about planning trades but I frequently don't see the actual entry. I've found that I am filled late if I wait for too much confirmation and spreads begin to widen. My biggest profit of late was when I placed a buy limit order on the way down, at the bottom edge of my target area, just when selling was slowing down on time and sales. I also placed a stoplimit below that price. Next red candle wicked down and I got a great entry. Everybody's playbook seems to wait for 3 bullish candles before entry. My hypotheses is that if the trade plan is an A trade you should plan to enter before the pull back. If price never reaches there you have lost nothing If price reverses before the limit order, you cancel the limit order and enter at the new level. This is me fighting for price.

Great discussion so good job Gents. Google is a tough trade. I've watched it since it first started trading. Very gappy and moody stock. Was Mike too tough? I think that Mike has a very defined template for all the trades SMB has identified and put into its playbook, so no I think Mike was sticking to the SMB Playbook. I think its a harder intraday stock to trade given the macro backdrop for Feb and vol term structure. VXN is also good to watch for technology stocks. I took some recent trades and did well b4 earnings and through earnings and am holding a 4th googl trade now. Good work n thks very much. Kirby

Gap close attempt-fail. I trade that move in futures all the time. If the market fails to close the gap early you position yourself in the direction of the gap. If the market accepts price below the gap that indicates rejection of higher pricing. It's a lot easier to fudge your entry range and timing when you're trading options. Futures are less forgiving.

Not too hard on him. All kids need a kick up the arse now and then . You gave him some kudos too. He now knows to think harder on VWAP settings. Maybe a bit stressful for him on camera. 1st bear candle exit or second lower close candle exit? Large vol 1st Candle probably long profit takers. Then a few shorts joined in ,not many hence low vol short cover candle.?This is good material for me to study . Also enjoyed 1 good trade on audio book while working (drywall in Australia) Thanks Bella

22:50 is too much noise on the chart with the 3 different moving averages and bollinger bands with 3 lines. I’ll look at them both sometimes but hide one while looking at the other one. Plus I also have confluence areas marked on the chart with trend lines. Also, I only use BB as an additional tool if I’m unsure of an entry or exit and don’t give it too much value. RSI is gold to me for finding reversals, seeing when it’s gaining or losing momentum, overbought or sold. Definitely recommend traders backtest RSI and learn divergence.

It is so obvious that this trader was just unable to tell you that he is following Brian Shannon's 1 and 2 day VWAP squeeze technique to help monitor price action 😂 Who is afraid to say Brian Shannon Brian Shannon. But seriously makes sense not to anchor or use the VWAP prior to the earning release. Brian Shannon anchors a VWAP after earnings or IPOs and uses it as a longer term reference to say who is in control. This could be seen on Justine's longer term chart showing Google falling all the way back to pre earnings.
