Thank you for this wonderful talk. Your game felt truly special and unique to me, in a way few games do. Your development approach definitely made it feel more immersive. As cliché as the phrase is "it really made me feel like a terrible goose in England", and I think that comes down to the fantastic environment design.

I really enjoyed this! Speaking as a player, the process certainly seemed to work out well. The levels are tight to play and charming to look at, and it does fit together and feel like it could be a real place. As you were showing aerial views of the UK countryside, I noticed something that was like your chain link fence, that I-a seppo-would have gotten completely wrong were I designing something in rural England: the shape of the fields. I would have happily laid out a bunch of giant squares aligned to a rigid street grid on the cardinal directions, like the Midwest where I grew up. It would be nothing like the chaotic layout of the real place, nestled among roads that were laid down centuries ago as the most convenient route between two landmarks, with little regard for the precise points of the compass. It would have been completely out of place, and without setting out to do the research, I would have no way of knowing! Thank you for sharing this, and thank you again for the wonderful game :)

It's very idyllic in terms of absolutely minimal car access, you're more likely to get that in a dutch town, though the architecture might be less iconic. It feels like a pastiche of small southern english towns, but...an accurate pastiche? Of course, the most important thing it that it is a Nice Place so that you feel Bad while disturbing or wrecking it.

When playing the game I was sure it must have been made by somebody British. The small details all lined up. It would have been easy to put in generic items, but they all lined up to real world items I knew. It was interesting seeing the actual locations you used. I was suspecting Grassington (Town square with a pump and what was a TV shop) with a side of Hebden Bridge ( where the artsy neighbour would go shopping to fill her garden ). I know world+dog is demanding a sequel, but I look forward to whatever you make next if it comes with this care and attention applied.
