I run $100,000 a month through Google ads. I have a team of three on my marketing. The best thing we could’ve done was hire a SEO manager in house. I can tell you after 20 years of doing this that using vendors are great for certain things. But when it comes to big things like SEO and PPC you do not use vendors. You’ll burn money you’ll burn through different vendors you’ll never be satisfied. Find a rockstar pay them well and you will reap the benefits for years. SEO isn’t a vendor service.

Finally caught up. I can confirm how important reviews are to an online business. Not just the number of stars but how you deal with the reviews. Many business do not realise that they should reply to reviews, especially the one and two star ones. Firstly a review is part of a conversation. Someone is talking to you. So reply to them. If you get a bad review how you deal with it can make or break your business. I know of a local food outlet which decided to attack one of its reviewers personally because he gave a poor review. That business is no longer in business. If they had apologised for his experience then asked for him to contact them privately to deal with it that would shown that they are a business which cares. That reflects well on the business. That means other customers are more likely to use your business. Yes a customer did not have a good time. But you are taking steps to resolve that problem. As a quick tip. Each reply does not need to be more than three lines usually, unless you feel more needs to be added. And no stock phrases.

I talked about the factors you can influence directly in the easiest manner. While proximity is definitely key, unless you relocate your business (which most people won't do) you won't be able to leverage it.

@@TomPeerless I can answer your question. Because they have a store front as well. You don’t have a store front/office (home office dies not count). You can’t post your address if you operate from home office. I am in the same boat (cleaning service). I only listed my service area. I don’t have a red pin on the map. It is a disadvantage. Do NOT list your home office as a business address, my account was suspended and it took me months to fix it. I did not know.

We work with a chiropractor who was not ranking well at all (in the 20s to 40s for all keywords). Talking with her, I found she specialized in what is called "Upper Cervical Chiropractic", which she didn't rank well for either. Since the term "Upper Cervical Chiropractic" is right next to the business name on the website, I added it to her name on the GBP as well. She ranked #1 on the maps, almost immediately.

I would personally go with either brightlocal or whitespark, altghough citations don't weight much in visibility these days.
