I got the 4-pack from Costco and it was just as easy to setup as you showed. Kept same SSID and PW. Had them all up and running in about 10 minutes. Interesting that my shop Nest cameras, 94 feet from the house, connected without placing a hub out there. Very happy with that.

Great video! Thank you for pushing this one out. Very interesting, with an Ethernet backhaul it’s as fast as the Deco XE200 you recently tested, with a wireless backhaul it’s speeds aren’t the best. Hmm, trouble is Netgear and TP Link and eero charge you a monthly fee for features. May give this google Pro a go and bite the bullet and use Ethernet backhaul, it really is between this and Asus I think, because you shouldn’t be charged extra money every month for things like seeing the bandwidth each device is using.

The Nest Wifi Pro is built with Matter but I can't see that on the Deco XE75 Pro AXE5400 6E. My home has a lot of smart bulbs etc. What benefit does having matter built in the router and should this be a factor in my decision between the two? My house is very Google but leaning towards the Deco. Thank you

You provide a lot of useful information. However, what I never see, whether from you or other reviewers, is how mesh handles connections as the device moves around the house. Does mesh automatically switch routers to keep strongest signal or will the device ( cellphone, etc) stay connected to the original router until it completely loses the signal? I think it's the latter no matter which mesh system. Which makes them no better than separates where 1 is setup as an ap. So cheaper to buy separates on the used market and update as needed. Just verify they can be configured as an ap.
@landpet

Thanks! It doesn't wait for the connection to drop before switching, it usually switches once you're closer to one vs the other (well just a tad more than closer since you might still have a good signal to the one you were connected to).

Excellent information! I think Google made a big mistake here by not offering 2 x 2.5GbE ports. Question what's the most affordable 2 x 2.5GbE Wi-Fi 6E 3+ x Mesh with Ethernet Backhauling?? Obviously I'm aware of UniFi and a couple ASUS or $1,000+ solutions. Is there anything cheaper? Example 3 x Mesh ~$500? Thanks!

Ah yes, it takes a day or so to start experiencing this. It's shockingly bad and subtle as you only lose the internet for about 30 seconds at a time. The original Google Wifi never had this issue. It only started with the Nest Wifi and the Nest Wifi pro hasn't fixed it. Plus, my wireless speeds seem to be capped at 180mbps for some reason. However, my old Nest Wifi & Google Wifi systems are capped at 450mbps wirelessly.

No, the new one is inferior. It has a much slower processor speed and worse wifi when you are further away as it often connects Wifi 6 at 2.4Ghz instead of 5Ghz. If it's working of your you're better off just getting another router if you need more. The nest points are hopeless. Go with an ASUS XD5 if you're looking to upgrade.

I’ve had no issue with it in the combined usage of about 3+ weeks as of now. It honestly just depends, it could be that people place the router behind a lot of electronics or near a bunch of them or hide it in the back of a cabinet as well. The thing is that people comment this on about every mesh WiFi I test, like the Orbi, eero, asus, deco, etc. Now some of the comments are after the firmware upgrade it started dropping connections which to me is a more accurate statement since it seems like it was working fine before the update. At the end of the day, there are also defective units that are sold so you never really know.

If you're an iPhone user (I have an iPhone 13) there is a good chance the install will fail beyond the primary router. I found something on Reddit where when you connect to the secondary point's wifi, you have to go into wifi settings and change a few settings. Not user friendly.
@landpet
@landpet Жыл бұрын
I did set this up with my Pixel 7 Pro but my iPhone 14 Pro Max has no issues connecting to it. I didn't have to change any settings either. I probably should've tried to set it up with my iPhone but I feel like it will be fine. One thing to mention, the Nest WiFi (not the Pro) had to be turned on first and then the modem would need to be turned on. Since I have an ONT, I don't need to restart it, all my mesh systems work fine with it but when I had a cable modem, the order mattered for various mesh wifi's. Most of them required the modem to be restarted and the modem had to be fully on before I can power on the router. In the case of the Nest WiFi (not the Pro), the Nest WiFi had to be on first, then I would turn on the modem. Maybe the Nest WiFi Pro is like the Nest WiFi?
@rherteux

@@landpet It was weird, and I wasn't the only one with the problem. I discovered the solution on in a Reddit post, otherwise I would have had to send my 3-pack back. After the router was discovered and connected to my iPhone 13 via it's own wifi network, I had to go into the wifi settings on my iPhone and turn off "Private Wi-Fi Address" and "Limit IP Address Tracking", then I was able to continue the setup. I didn't have to do that for the first, hard-wired router, but I did have to do that for the 2 add-ons.

what is the problem using a modem/router from isp and the mesh nest wifi pro
@landpet
@landpet 5 ай бұрын
Wifi signals will interfere and you will have 2 dedicated routers which will create 2 NATs unless the nest can run in bridge mode. The issue with running your isp router is that typically they're not great and when you're setting up a network, you want the better router to be the main one. I recommend disabling the router portion of the modem router combo and running the nest as the main for optimal performance.

@landpet

With the google home app, it's testing the speed at the google router level. On your phone or ps5, it's actually doing a speed test on your actual device which is more accurate. If you get closer to the google router with your devices, the speeds should improve. It also depends if your phone supports faster wifi standards and whether the internet is being used for other things during the test.

Agreed the RBK752 is cheaper than Nest Pro and overall a better system.

Once they are set up, they work great. I got two nest wifi pros in my house. Easy setup. I did have an issue with having a double nat, but fixed it by changing a couple settings on the modem/router provided by the ISP.
