The iphone notch is actually bigger in my opinion. It's twice as wide as the google notch. It takes up most of the area for notifications, which is more important to me. The front facing stereo speakers are a must. Just my opinion....

I like the look of the notch - it makes it look modern and out of deliberate design choice. Front facing stereo speakers are a great addition for video, hate my current single speaker.

3D touch is not just app shortcuts. It is also moving the keyboard cursor and previewing web links. It really can't be replaced by long press.

The back is actually very scratch resistant. I went to a Verizon store and attempted to scratch the back of the black Pixel 3 with my car keys (shh). At first glance there were marks- However, they quickly vanished after a wipe. There is images from other people on reddit/r/googlepixel.

I think the front facing speakers are good for playing games and watching You Tube, etc but aren’t a necessity. This year, I think that the Pixel 3 is one phone to get. I don’t think that paying the extra for a bigger and higher resolution screen is worth it. I can live with the notch, for me, it’s the combination of notch and chin that let the design down.

In my opinion the "Now Playing" feature is the best feature of any smartphone. I use it all the time and I have discovered so much good music! For those of you who have it, Download the "Now Playing" companion app from the Playstore. It's very useful in catching songs you may have missed.

You could have researched far more. For example the super Res zoom doesn't just generate new pixels but actually use your handshake and take more photos... These take other pixels that can fit in the space between the other pixels

I’ve not seen any details but I imagine that the pixel 3 is taking photos slightly offset from each other like some cameras do by moving their sensor. Doing so increases resolution, resulting in the ability to zoom in. We’ll have to see how it works in practice. And of course I might be totally wrong.

You can create a larger image "panorama" by stitching multiple images together. But if you want to "zoom in" without loosing quality you would need to approximate the missing pixels which is not an easy thing to get right. Quite curious how this would compare to actual optical zoom.

ZONEofTECH I’m sure it’s not easy to do, but with the amount of hand movement I understand how the pixels inbetween might be interpolated. It would be somewhat akin to what they do for very deep field Astro photography I guess.

how much of the screen do you lose with the notch being hidden? is it around 1 inch loss if so i can live with it. I just refuse to use notch phones but i need a large screen.. also the zoom feature is similar to what sony did for its point and shoot cameras which actually works pretty good

I think the frustration regarding the notch is warranted due to the price point and the fact that Google lead us to believe that there was something more. Disappointed with the unveiling. Ask yourself, is this hardware worthy of 2018? Software is there for sure.
