@@PBKreviews Looks like the plastic sub-frame that houses the display would protect it from unwanted damage while dismantling for repair. Also is this a US version? Not sure if all versions have the mmWave 5G antenna.

Nice job, thanks for the teardown! Can you tell how the display fit after reassembling the device? Could you see any difference in relation to the gap compared to before? Really wondering why there seems to be so much variance between different units how big the gap primarily in the top left corner is with so much adhesive.
@PBKreviews
@PBKreviews 4 жыл бұрын
No problem, and thanks. Well the adhesive I use to put it back together compared to the one it originally comes with is different. All I know is, it wasn't that easy to pry the original adhesive off, it stretches so I'm assuming that elasticity it has in the type of adhesive that is used along with the design of the phone is what causes it to have some lift here and there. It's not the first time I have seen this type of stretchy adhesive used in water resistant phones but different phone designs work different with how the adhesive sits and holds. Some phones might have the screen seated in a way that it's not pulling away from the frame at all so you don't see the adhesive stretched a bit and some like this pixel 5 might have some resistant between the screen and frame so that may cause the screen to pull slightly away from the frame but its just more of a aesthetic thing and not something that compromises the seal/water resistance etc. So bottom line, even though the frame of the screen may not be perfectly flush with the frame of the phone, the adhesive is still intact and has a proper seal so it wont have any negative effect and the screen will not come off, you would need to really work at prying it off to get it to come off.
@stefan8927
@stefan8927 4 жыл бұрын
@@PBKreviews Wow, thanks for the comprehensive answer! Really didn't expect that. Good to hear that this seems to be more of a side effect by the actual phone design and not a real problem. I am curious if Google will stick to this manufacturing design or future batches will look differently. Thanks again for your efforts!

You're welcome. It's possible they may alter adhesives or add additional supports to firmly grip down the screen (just to clear up the worry for customers) even though it's not needed. Either way looks to be an easy fix if they do implement one.

Hi, it's not too difficult to take apart the phone, but you need to be careful to not damage or break the screen. Putting it back together, you can use the original adhesive that is on the screen if you did not damage it too much while taking it off and if it still has enough stickiness to hold it down since the frame of the screen has catches which hold it down on the corners in place as well. Very nice video. I have a query. Iam using my pixel 5 and my proximity sensor is not working as expected. It automatically senses something when i turn the phone inverted. It works fine if i apply some pressure on the upper part of the screen, in and around the proximity sensor. Is this issue hardware or software related. Any fix for this issue!?
@PBKreviews
@PBKreviews 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, and thank you. It seems to be a hardware issue. It is possible there is extra light getting to the sensor and causing it to malfunction. It's possible as well your screen adhesive in the top might be lifted up or not holding well and allowing light to get in or the rubber gasket around the sensor might not be installed correctly.
@thufillahamed8561

The prevalence of this issue also gets reduced when i put a case in the phone. And by the way, is it sure that nothing is wrong with the sensor!?

Hmm make sure if you removed the main board, it's seated back in place properly since it has antenna contacts that need to touch parts of the frame. Aside from that, if you damaged any chips on the main board, can also be a reason why it might not be working.

Some people have issues with overheating while recording 4K video. It simply stops recording after 3-4 minutes. Might be problem with internal heat management?
@PBKreviews
@PBKreviews 4 жыл бұрын
Its possible. It does have graphite film behind the cameras to transfer heat to the copper tape on the screen. But considering the fact the cameras generate heat, the battery is right underneath which generates heat and the screen right over it generating heat, I can see after a long period of time maybe the camera's or the phone itself might be overheating. The screen can transfer heat out but the fact so many components are relying on the screen as an exit for heat it might be overwhelming. They may also release software updates to help control the workload or tasks to decrease heat when the camera is being used etc.

Am I right in saying that putting the phone in a case removes all potential issues with the screen gap? I always use a case so I assume, even if mine arrives with a small gap, the case will negate the effect.
@PBKreviews
@PBKreviews 4 жыл бұрын
depends on what case you use, some go over the screen boarders and some just cover the back and sides of the phone. If you have one that covers the boarders of the screen, then you should have that potential gap covered and not need to worry about it. Regardless of case or not, its nothing to worry about, it wont affect the water resistance or anything else.
