@@axea4554 It is fully possible to use an android device much longer than 5 years, may be it forcing an update or using a third part OS, antivirus, or just being plain safe. You can use them years longer, it's just they arn't officially supported anymore. Chances are though nobody cares about hacking your 7 year old phone.

Honestly, I just lowered the volume for calls and it's actually decent. The problem is mainly the vibration caused on the screen and back of the phone when on high volume. For media, I barely use it without earbuds in but when I do, it's not that bad, it does what it needs to.

@@polaris911 Quick answer, no! I have the Pixel 5 sorta sage color and I can honestly say that the people complaining about the sound quality just doesn't know how to use an under-screen speaker. Much like placing a cup on a door or wall to hear what's on the other side, sound travels through the glass to hear, but this also required you to lower the volume. If the call volume is set too high, it will vibrate more and actually distort the sound. I place my call volume at about 75% and I hear all my phone calls perfectly. Also, you don't have to ensure you center the speaker grill directly over your ear canal to hear the call. You can literally hear the phone call on any spot on the screen. iPhone users are going to come on here and try to persuade you to get an iPhone, but believe me, I returned my iPhone 12 mini because the battery life on that phone is horrible.

I'm two years late, but I got the 4A 5G and absolutely love it. Even running it on dual sim mode (T Mobile ESIM and US Mobile physical SIM), the battery life is still fantastic. Easily getting 10+ hours of screen on time. Not to mention the adaptive charging mode preserves long term battery life but limiting charging if phone is plugged in overnight. Also, amazing camera quality!

Your charger is definitely the issue! In the future please don't knock the phone because of user error. Like the other commenter said, my Pixel 5 charges fantastically on the it's Pixel Stand quickly and without issue.

My Pixel 5 charges very well on my Pixel Stand, that I already had for my old 3. They likely designed the wireless charging with their own charger in mind. It's good to know it doesn't work well with every charger, I'm just saying your mileage may vary.

Charges wirelessly pretty well for me. The 'time until full' is often hugely misleading and it charges much faster than indicated.

I had Pixel 4XL and loved it especially the camera, then I upgraded to iPhone 12 Pro Max, and truly, the 4XL camera was better in most situations, so I haven’t had the Pixel 5. However, come October, I will be buying the Google Pixel 6 Pro, and that’s for sure! Cheers from UK 🇬🇧 🙂👍🏻

Google does indeed seem not to be able to make up their mind on how to organize its Google Photos app, but ... Apple has a better photo organization? Really? The single camera roll folder? Really? They are not even trying... I would choose Snapdragon 765 with great battery life and cheaper pricetag ANY day over an expensive power hungry chip!

I love this freaking phone, got rid of my Note 20 Ultra for this phone and it was definitely worth it! This just works flawlessly, battery life is awesome, size I thought was too small at first, but actually seems perfect! Thought the processor might not be enough, seems faster than my note though?! Wtf?! How can it be? SOFTWARE! Nothing comes close to clean, crisp, and user friendly stock Android! I'll never leave the Pixel line again. My pixel 4 took better photos than my note!!!

@@lyncarey537 it's definitely not worth it, I would only say go with Samsung if you want a bigger screen. My average ram consumption on the Samsung started out at 4 GB out of 12 just a month later I was averaging 6 GB out of 12. Yet my pixel felt faster, and it's because of less bloatware and instant updates directly from Google where Samsung would not get the updates until months later. Then factor in the price it was a no-brainer for me.

Google has another photo app called Gallery Go that has simpler layout . It's for local pix whereas Photos is more cloud centric. I use both. As for wireless charging maybe a diff model would make big difference. Good video 👍

Things I've noticed over the passed few weeks. 1. Battery life is INSANE. I'm talking taking it off the charger at 4am and ending the day at 8pm with 72% . 2. The camera is fantastic as always. And finally the video has closed the gap a bit. 3. So many amazing software tweaks not available on other Android phones. Call screen is an absolute must. That plus amazing size, build quality and display. This phone is an absolute home run for the price...easily the best Pixel yet with no glaring hardware or software bugs.

@@TheStainloss speakers are fine...nothing mind blowing but decently loud and get the job done. Phone calls sound fantastic. I charge mine on my Pixel stand at night...works great. It's honestly the only time I "need" to charge...the battery life is that good.

I've owned every Nexus phone, the first Pixel and now the 4 XL...I was honestly hoping for better hardware in the 5. I know it's all about the software with Google, but truly flagship hardware from Google would be a dream come true for me. The 4 XL was almost there in my opinion, so I was hoping for something similar but improving the things it lacked. The software is great and matured, I don't understand why they couldn't make a truly competitive flagship this year. I know they don't sell a lot of their top tier, but that's due to them cutting corners constantly in comparison to their competitors. There is absolutely no reason for the drop of Face Unlock, no reason there isn't a triple camera system, no reason there isn't a flagship SoC, no reason for dropping the neural core chip, no reason the display isn't brighter than what it is, etc. Sure the user experience is great, but it could be even better with competitive hardware.

Here are my very 1st impressions of the Pixel 5 👇 - very nice, vivid clear screen (although a bit on the warm side looking) - hole punch cut-out is honestly not that distracting or intrusive. Favorable to a big notch. - smooth, surprisingly fast - nice natural / stone-like back finish - excellent battery life - speaker quality is fine, passable - camera output is reliable & typical Pixel quality, but not necessary mind-blowing - sometimes have noticed the camera has already been hanging up / slow at times. Missing shots. Which is pretty concerning and honestly not acceptable, for a brand new premium phone. Been noticing with the cam: A) Taking photos can be slow, especially with Night-Sight B) Sometimes the shutter button won't work / freezes up C) Google was really f@cking stupid to remove the "Pixel Neuro Core" chip. I still believe, it's a noticable admission / step backwards.

was about to pre-order google pixel 5 but when i suddenly starting hearing the main disadvantage is the call quality, I canceled my order. Overall reviewers should be harder on google pixel 5. The main reason of getting a phone is to use it as a phone. If that main function of the phone is call quality then what's the point of buying a phone. Even with this price point and that main disadvantage. Google will loose out on the pixel phone revenue and will loose $$.

This is from a Pixel 2 XL user, but I assume it's the same on all of them: the screen vibrancy issue you're talking about is probably software, not hardware. Android has a color setting that is set to "natural" by default (because they decided it was stupid how over-saturated the other phone screens are) but you can set it to Boosted or Saturated if you want it to look more vibrant.

Thank you for this review. I upgrade our (my wife and myself) phones to the Pixel 5 from the Pixel 2. We are both impressed with the battery life on this phone. The real question is how will the battery perform in three years when we consider the Pixel 8 (or whatever Google is offering). The one thing my wife and I have taken time to get used to, is the absence of the triangle, circle and square phone navigation. Our Pixel 2's upgraded to Android 11 shortly before I could pre-order the Pixel 5, and the phone navigation had not changed. So, it was a complete surprise to us when I started up my new phone. I don't recall any review I watched about the Pixel 5 bringing this new feature up.

You can change this in the settings. On the 2, you had the option to change it in settings, but it stayed at what you had. If you go to the gestures, and then click on "system navigation", you should be able to switch to the two button version. The three button version WAS dropped, but if you are used to the three button, you can switch to the two button which is a better in between

@@fabioaa2025 The 5 is noticeably faster than the 2. The outside dimensions of the two phones are very close. The 5 is 1mm shorter and 1mm wider than the 2, so practically the same size. The display is much larger on the 5 than the 2 because the 5 does not have the bezel that the 2 has. It is in my opinion that the display quality is better. I chose the 5 over the 4a5G because I did not want the larger phone size and the water resistance is a must for me. I had a Nexus go bad on me simply because it got wet from the rain. I must be one of the few people that used the squeeze feature on the 2 and I do miss it some. The biggest difference is the much improved battery performance.

That's why I use a stand-type wireless charger (I use the Anker Powerwave 7.5 with internal fan). I don't need to fiddle with lining up the pad to my. Drop it on and let it charge until 80%. Then take it off and go. Odd, my Photos app has a different layout. I haven't seen the layout showed off in your video in several months. Are you still using an outdated/un-updated version of the app?

The big positive for me after watching this video is that essentially every pain point you had with the Pixel 5 was either due to comparing it with other Android competitors (I'm a Pixel user, so it doesn't affect me) or with Google itself, and not the phone. Considering my experience and how those negatives of yours are basically nonexistent for me helped me with my feelings about this phone. Main thing that bothers me is the 1080p screen.

And that's why you just plug in a cable...I respect wireless charging, but since becoming a OnePlus owner, I can't possibly accept slow wireless charging vs warp charging. No better feeling to me than waking in the morning with sub 40% battery and by the time you're done getting ready for work you're at full or near fully charged and still being able to pick up and use the phone while it's charging 🤷‍♂️

any building quality issue? there are some threads in the Google forums with users reporting a gap that separates the screen from the body of the phone. But google indicates is normal even if the photos show a really big gap that could affect the waterproofing

i got this phone on November 7. very happy with it in general. i had similar problems with wireless charger, but the charger that came in the box is crazy fast and battery life is outstanding. the fingerprint sensor was tricky until i got a leather case. streaming plus either bluetooth or chromecast works great. i wouldn't listen to music straight from the phone anyway.

For the wireless charging, you could buy an Apple MagSafe charger if you wanted. The magnets work with lining it up on that phone but it just charges at normal speed...no fast wireless charging. 20% to full was 7 hours, to give you an idea. Which is actually a good thing if you just wanna use it while you sleep.

I went with the 4a which has no wireless charging at all. I thought I would miss it, but so far no. The included charger charges the phone quickly and since my wireless charger already had the wall charger I just replaced it with a usb-c cable.

@@jrmymndz the pixel 5 battery is just as good if not better than the s20 ultra. The cameras are more consistent unless you're zooming I wish they put a telephoto on the p5. S20 has focusing problems and depth of field problems. Also the p5 is less than half the price of the s20 ultra

Hi. Thanks for the one month after review. 👍 I received the Pixel 5 and right away loved the size, feel and simple stock android, especially the camera and different options you can choose before you take a pic and the editing you can do after! However, I could not stand how hard it was to hear someone else on the other line. I was already switching from an S8 that had a bad speaker, forcing me to use wireless headphones during calls. So sadly, I had to exchange my pixel for the Samsung galaxy s20 FE version. Fortunately, transferring over all my info was super easy and I'm really enjoying the S20 FE. But if Google ever manages to fix that "under glass" speaker grill in their future models, I would definitely want to try it again. Have a great day👋

I think call screening is pointless because you still have to pay attention to the call and the robot voice is slower than saying hello, hearing the beginning of a pre recorded message and hanging up,. or recognizing that the number is spam and rejecting the call. Overall I'm really attracted to this phone but I'm worried I'll want the next one when it comes out too because of the 5's limitations.

You need a EPP compliant wireless charger then it can charge up to 12w wirelessly if the charger is not EPP compliant it will only charge at 5w.

He's right about the Google photos app. It sucks as being a photo library. When I had my Pixel 5 it would always freeze for about 5 seconds when deleting photos and then every time I opened the camera and then went to the photos from the camera app it would freeze and display the last photo that I deleted for 5 seconds. Awful. Also the video capture is bad indoors. If you don't have tons of light you will see tons of noise in anything dark in color. All of my black furniture looked horribly grainy whereas on my iPhone and S20 the black furniture looked black like it should. Just not worth the money. Not even close.

I dont know if it is the same with you, but if i click on the temperature widget and then the 3 bar to get the side menu, i get an old version of the menu and it freezes. I have to quit the app. It was the same on my Pixek 3 and Android 10. Google never fix it.

I have a samsung s8+ and its nearing its end. One thing I loved about it is the hyperlapse video mode. I do a lot of painting and it takes like an hr long video of me painting and condenses into like 3 or 4 minutes. Does the Pixel 5 have that feature? Also in some of the other video reviews I saw a bit of pixelation, is that just youtube? Edit: also, u spoke about the screen. In my old s8+, its really hard to see in the sun. Does this have the same issue?

I sent my Pixel 5 back for my biggest complaint... the under screen speaker is horrible for phone calls. I had a very difficult time hearing callers while in my car. The volume was insufficient and lacked tonal quality to the point of being unusable. I loved the phone otherwise, but if I can't have a phone conversation then what's the point? This could be forgivable on a $200 phone, but certainly not on a $700 phone.

Well, you're only using 60% of the battery then, so if you used 100% of the battery you'd probably get a day and a half/three quarters which is good I think

Best phone in my opinion I have no issue with the processor optimization is so flawless great features just a solid phone. Love the design and built quality great choice instead of glass . Minor complaints are really minor and just proves otherwise this is a great phone. I understand the charging but I'm still a fan of plug in much quicker.

After watching your previous video comparing the Pixel 5 with the iPhone 12 my impression was that feature for feature they both offer similar functions that the lay person would use. However, for the price the Pixel 5 is still a better value. I do agree with something you pointed out in the video which is that Google is primarily a software company, not a hardware one. It would be interesting if Google teamed up with another company integrating their software and Google services into an amazing hardware such as LG, Samsung, or a similar company. This could potentially result in a device that is miles ahead of the competition; one can only dream.

Gallery Go is superior to Photos, and still made by Google so it's not some crappy third party app with a completely different look and feel. Personally, I gave up on high pixel density and fast CPUs in my phone years ago. All they do is chew battery. I like a good picture and reasonably fast that will last all day without a charger especially since I use it for a hotspot.

Does it actually matter how your phone is aligned on a wireless charging pad? I thought it either establishes a connection and you get the full speed or it doesn't connect and it doesn't charge. It's the first phone I've had that has wireless charging. I got a 15W charger. The back of the box said it could do 5, 10, and 15W and sources online say the Pixel 5 can do up to 12W. So I'm not sure if I'm getting the full 12W peak or it just defaults to 10W. But in any case, while it's not exactly fast, it's actually faster than I expected. I sometimes get a really long estimate when I put it on which then changes after a while but I think it's just because the speed is not constant and because it's able to make a more accurate estimate after it's been on the charger for while. I've never gotten anything like a day or anything like that.

Hey Mike, I like the pixel5 but luv my 4xl. No downgrade at this time. But I do like the new design and 🔋 power. I tested that under display 🔊. Well I covered the bottom one. The under display 🔊sounded, hollow, tinny & muffled. The 4xl had full crystal clear stereo reproduction. Between that & the mid-range processer is a hard-pass for me. Plus the 7oo.oo price plus tax is too much. Should have been 550.00 to 600.00 MAX! So the real deal is the 4a, great price 349.00, I'm keeping my 4xl which I paid 699.00 4mos ago! Very good review!

I have owned every iPhone since the beginning, but I'm not married to it. I wanted to try an Android device for quite some time, but I'm not sure about the P5. Call screening would be a no-go for me. The financial and medical entities I use; hang-up due to privacy policy. Also, human nature gets in the way, as folks don't like my NEST doorbell; they often knock. Even so, this may not stop me from re-ordering the Pixel 5 that I returned unopened less than a week ago.

good video.. few complaint here with mine after a couple weeks. I have the same annoyance with the wireless charging.. although I am glad it's there. Would be nice if this had at least some type of faceunlock, the fingerprint unlock works great most of the time but if there is any moisture on your finger it doesn't work well at all... even a mediocre face unlock would remedy this. The faceunlock on the pixel 4 was the bomb.. too bad it wasn't possible(yet) with a bezeless screen.

Pixel 5 is great and it was on sale for $600 on launch day. One of my complaints is the brightness slider I don’t use adaptive brightness and I fell that it needs finer adjustments along the slider. I find it hard to get my perfect brightness and I just don’t have that problem on say a iPhone including the regular 11 and xr.

If you use the adaptive brightness on the phone, it will actually brighten up higher than the slider will let you go in sunlight conditions.
