@@MFillmore So apparently we got fucked in this US by Verizon because they had to put in a MMWave which added $100 to the price. Just wanted to preface with that part. However i get what you mean. But i think that’s the beauty of android. You have so many options to choose from depending on what you are looking for in a phone. The pixel is more so a well done introduction into android. It’s simple, easy, and helpful. I’ve had every pixel (minus the “a” series” and i can honestly say they have not had a bad phone.. Maybe badly reviewed, but once you have in it hand it works just as well as any other phone and in some case exceeds them.

I love aluminium because its so light. The pixel 5 is made from aluminium and the HTC 10 is also made from aluminium right? So most likely they got the same build quality then, except google put a tiny layer of plastic on top of it so it doesn't look like metal/aluminium. Most likely they did so for avoiding scratches? Anyways the LG G5 was similar and I loved that phone for it low weight but still durable.

Waited out with my Pixel 3 for the 5 because the 4 was super expensive and had a ton of features I didn't care about. The 5 is perfect for me. Exactly the features I want for a reasonable price. Also ordered it through Verizon just a couple of days before they announced nationwide 5g launch, which will cover my home and surrounding areas based on their map, so that's pretty neat.

I've been on android (samsung and pixel) since blackberry pearl. Tried an iphone 12 pro and returned it after 3 days. So much missing and uncomfortably clunky! Where's the always on display, spam filters, notification icons, usb c, and fingerprint scanner during a mask wearing pandemic. Just seemed like a massive loss of usability for blue bubble text. Back on my Pixel 3xl until I grab the Pixel 5.

I am on my 2nd OGXL going to 5 same as you. When I saw the size comparison between the two, I was initially very sad. When you compare the SCREEN size though, it actually looks great. I use the 4xl & to me this would be a downgrade. I like Soli, face unlock & the squeeze feature. As a matter of fact I just picked up the S20FE ☁️ red which I luv? Guys.... I for example waited for long time for a phone as Pixel 5 in such a small body. Not everybody is like me BUT I don't really want the best of the best anymore. With Pixel 5 the performance is almost high end and you get a ~6 inch phone with a 6 inch screen perfectly symetrical PLUS a clean software without all sort of crap and bloatware. I am fed up of having a brick in my pocket and a zillion unwanted apps that i can never remove from the phone.

The only way they could achieve these specs is by making the phone thicker atleast by one millimeter. That would help fitting the battery (but 5000 still seems impossible to me) and adding some very powerful water cooling solution for the 865+.

@@TeodorKubena what's the problem with having extra thickness, most of the people will take thickness over mediocre battery life. Pixel's have the worst battery life in their phones, so it would have been a logical move. As for the SD865+, Again pixel's are notoriously famous for degrading performance over time, so in terms of future proofing SD865+ would be the best. All of the specs have been already present in most of android flagships these days. So it doesn't look like a big deal. But i think google is opting for a different strategy where they are price conscious

😔 No. No. Too many compromises for this to be the best. Be fair and compare the 5 to the 4 XL. They are the most equivalent in overall size, display and battery. It is deceptive to compare to the smaller 4 for those that don't know by just saying Pixel 4. Pixel 4 XL is the best. Soli radar makes it the fastest face unlock, currently. Gone! No neural core! (Slower device, especially with Google Assistant) Brighter screen with lower PPI. Lower speaker performance with sound under the glass. Glass and metal is the industry standard for flagship. RECYCLED aluminum is not premium. That is 2014 along with the fingerprint sensor on the back. 765G underperforms against the 2 year old 855. 765G to bring 5G to a device targeted at a mid-range market that Google gets from the support of the power users. Power users aren't getting behind this device. So it will likely fail. Lastly, a 300mAh battery bump is nice. But thru machine learning the 4 XL now can achieve 6.5 screen on time. Yes, Pixel 5 is a great deal here! :) On the other hand: The new iPhone 12: $799 in America. 899€ in Europe. If you want the 128GB version (like the Pixel), it's 950€. And because it's already nearly a thousand euro phone you may want that extra Apple Care, another 170€. So you are at 1120€, that's 1316 US dollars! Hope nobody starts comparing the new iPhones to the new Pixel phone here in Europe. :D

Android never was a match for iOS and never will be so they need to wake up to the reality and cut the price down at least 50% or something for people to actually consider the Pixels. Also, hope they have sorted the QC issues with the newer pixels, because up until Pixel 3 there were severe hardware issues which only we, the pixel users know of and others unaware.

Sound quality is worse than the 3XL, aging camera sensor, blah specs...this seems like a good phone now but will seem old and slow in 18 months. Went with the Samsung S21 Ultra since they had no XL version this year.

Cons: The earpiece is absolutely horrible. I can barely hear people on phone calls and media. The haptics are poor. Everything else is fantastic and Android 12 revitalizes this phone.

48MP makes no sense at all thru a little plastic lens. It's impossible to render a proper image. DLSR has trouble rendering about 36MP.

There are no choices. Samsung is King. More features.. speed, screen, clarity. Music everything imaginable. Nothing compares. Get s20. FE if you can find it. Pixel is quick, simple,. Easy to hold.. great phone... but you won't get 120hz refresh rate.

Honestly, I want them to make two versions of every flagship pixel: The normal one, at the lower price, and the photo and videographer edition at a higher price, with higher capacity. I would have paid more for a telephoto lens, and 256GB onboard. Everything else could have been the same. Either way, this stands as a fantastic phone. The only issue is, do I really see the justification upgrading from my 3A? The only major benefit I see is the second rear camera.

So I daily drive the S21 Ultra...and I got the pixel 5 to play around with...and I'm tempted to switch. It's a TINY phone, but the screen doesn't feel small at all. It's a super light phone, plenty speedy for daily driving. Camera compared to the Samsung does require some getting used to (idk if it's like a fisheye effect, but I always feel like there is a lot of deadspace around your subject that just isn't there on a Samsung lens...idk, maybe just me?)

Relative to what else google has to offer, the pixel 5 has the most premium features and highest specs, and therefore is the flagship. Under-specced against the competition and overpriced yes, but nonetheless the flagship.
