Hi, Pixel 5 user, had it since launch in black. Never had a overheating issue, nor the software message, nor the device shut off itself. I would describe myself as a heavy user, constant high end media streaming (audio & video) also gaming. Not had a single issue since purchase, really love the device & I would recommend to others. 🙂

I'm not a gamer but can get distracted down various rabbit holes watching KZbin and it seems to handle that no worries. I'm back to work now so I have it charged 100% in the morning and it's only seems to be going down to 70% by late afternoon. And I can fanny about on KZbin, IG and Twitter the rest of the evening and it's down to 30ish by bedtime. Still dont get the smart charging it's supposed to do overnight. Only had a couple of times when it warmed up to worry me but compared to my old G4 which was needing charged twice a day well happy so far.

Uhhmmmm, two things. The over heating you claim. I think you may have a faulty model. Or something else going on with your device. Because I live in the American Southwest and experience a lot of sunshine and heat, spend a lot of time outside, and have yet to experience this. Also, you claim no dual sim support. I'm currently using my Pixel 5 with dual sim. The e-sim and physical sim both working at the same time in conjunction. Otherwise love your videos.

I am considering P5 too Despite it cost lot more for what in offer, But I can't stand the pathetic samsung os, or other cheaper brand which full of sxxt and unnecessary app. P5 lack some features which I hoped it has, but for me clean android os and decent battery and camera is my top priority, never the less the perfect size P5 offer, I really miss those days when I can comfortably handle the phone one handed! @@hassanahmed1755 I preordered the phone for the exact reasons you listed above. I just can't use Samsung knowing all the garbage they preload on there, which can only be disabled, not deleted. Facebook is the worst offender. It's know they can track you just by having the app built into your phone, you don't need to have an account or ever even touch the app. As someone who values privacy, having a clean OS and being able to easily install a custom ROM (thanks to the unlocked bootloader) are features that really stand out against the competition. My advice to you would be to wait and see what they do with the upcoming Pixel 6. Rumours say it'll be the first Pixel phone to feature Google's custom SoC Whitechapel. I'm excited to see what they're able to do with deep hardware and software integration much like Apple. Also seems likely they'll FINALLY upgrade the camera hardware which they haven't touched since the Pixel 2. Even if their new offering doesn't end up interesting you the P5 will be sure to go on discount at that point.

I have been using the Pixel 5 but in sage and I have to say that I really love using it, I have not really noticed any over heating issues as of yet, the camera is effortless and always takes great shots, I agree the size makes it very user friendly and after dropping mine several times in the gravel I only have 1 minor scratch on the back. overall a very easy to use effortless phone that just works as it should, very happy with mine.

I've had the Pixel 5 since launch and while it may not be the most exciting it does for a lot of things very well, which is why I like it so much. The form factor is one of the best though, I've had a Oneplus 7t which was great but it's just too big and weighty. I've not had the heat warning at all on my Pixel 5. In short though; the camera is great, performance is very good, screen is very good.... It's a phone that just works and works well 👍

I just got a grade A Pixel 5 on eBay for £300. I was awaiting for the Pixel 6, and it looks great but is far too bulky and heavy. The Pixel 5 is the perfect form factor really, and now that you can not buy them new anymore I think they will retain their value longer than normal.

I don't think it's expensive. People are just buying specs but it's not the way to get a good working device. Poco X3 Pro has better specs but is it better? No way. Pixel 5 is the first and the only android smartphone with symmetrical frames atm. It has truly unique and practical body materials. It doesn't overheat, Aptx HD support for the best music experience. I personally using 4A 5G with Momentum True Wireless 2 and enjoying it very much. And of course Pixel has the most stable android with pleasently smooth experience even at 60 Hz. Pixel 5 is minimalistic device for aesthetes and the only reason it looks a little bit expensive is because Google offers 4A 5G. Plus original Fabric Case is a piece of art and in my opinion great looking original accessories is important thing also

Watching this on my Pixel 5. Originally went for the 4a 5g due to the larger screen, but the 90 Hz refresh rate makes a massive difference. Everything is so much smoother. Speakers aren't as good, but they're fine. It's a phone after all, not a hi-fi!

Just got this baby! This is a great buy and there's nothing to regret. Most importantly, call quality is just fine. Nothing to worry about but of course I have had better. If you are willing to buy this phone, go and get it. The Adaptive Sound option also improves speaker quality but not the call quality. However, call quality is pretty ok. I have used in quiet, noisy environments and found nothing wrong. Thanks.

I just bought the Pixel 5 this week ~600€. My Samsung S8 broke after 4 years (charging jack). Anyways I must say that I always loved the Google Phones because of their high tier hardware and the pixel 5 isnt disapointing at all. At the beginning I was a bit confused about the gesture navigation and from now I often got problem when swiping images through instagram which results into accidentialy closing the app or scrolling back to the top. But that is a layer 8 issue ;) The functionality of the camera is amaizing and with the build in features like the night-mode its worth getting outside at night to look up the sky again. The size of the screen is a bit smaller than the S8 but not worth mentioning because everything looks soooo clean and smoth. I can only recommend buying this phone.

Ok bought a Google Pixel 5 back in August 2021 for £410 on eBay. Added a Spiegen case and screen protector. No overheating issus. Pleased with the size which fits into pockets well. Google updates come in without issues. Like the stock Android. Would have liked an integrated app lock for extra security. Charge overnight on the Google charging stand. I expect to keep this phone for 3-4 years

I've also been using the pixel 5 since launch. Points to add: the audio quality isn't too good; probably a B+ grade, the fingerprint scanner refuses to work even if your fingers are slightly moist, the battery life is amazing so far; the same level as an iPhone 12 more or less, you will also notice a hit on performance when applying Snapchat filters as they are slow to open etc, also a very important thing to note is that features like "hold for me" and screen calling do not work in the UK as they are US exclusive. Overall it's a great phone no regrets in buying and the reason I got it over the 4a5g is due to the smaller size and symmetrical bezels.👍

Packing 6inchs lol, so I've not got the 5 nor the 4a5g I've got the 4 couple of months back as an upgrade has they wanted to much money to get the 4a let alone the 5, from what I upgraded it's a great phone, even thou I wanted the 5 but it came down to price and the fact no jack point and as I play cod on my phone for afew hours everyday couldn't justify buying the earbuds so I could use it for that and music grrr, plus I'm not in a 5g area, so thought it be best to wait for the new 6 or possibly 7 when I can get upgraded again. I forgot how good the camera was on Pixels until I saw your shots. There is a lot of media about how the iphone and galaxys have surpassed the Pixel but it doesn't look like it's by that much.

No issues on overheating here. Google Photos did stop uploading & had a message saying "upload paused, phone too hot" once after I'd been driving with my Pixel in direct sunlight on the dash whilst navigating, but I've never had a system message. Only feels warm to touch when wireless charging. As for the price - I feel it's worth it for the camera & Pixel Android experience alone!

Thanks for the review and mentioning the heat issue that I have not heard much about. I didn't see the point of upgrading my Pixel 4a (the original, not the 4a5G) as the Pixel 5 was twice the price. Not saying it is a bad phone but I just don't see it being worth twice as much as the 4a.

I am a huge fan of Pixels and had all of them (except the 4, I knew it will be trash with a 2800mah). To be clear, all of them seems to heat quite quickly. I don't know if it's worse than competitors but it looks like the warning message come sooner. So it's not a special-pixel 5- thing. Personally I experienced this on all, not on the p5 for now but we're just in April, we'll see this summer. For me the pixel 5 is the best pixel ever, compromising with nothing but the chipset and there is no real difference is usage ( but I don't play games). The only bad thing is, they should bring back autofocus for the front cam, like good old pixel 3.

Nice that they released a Kernel update in March which boosted CPU and then in April the boosted GPU by up to 40%! Good stuff 😁

Note that phones never overcharge, they have control for that. Adaptive charging just keeps battery level at 80% or something like that. It lets it raise up to 100% like a hour before the time you usually take it off the charger. (Damn my sentences are really horrible now, I hope I can be understood lol)

I understood you 🙂. I checked my phone and with my alarm set for 8am (adaptive charge on) woke up for a toilet trip at 2am and it was 100% 🤣

@@pena3976 I honestly don't know but I usually wake up before my alarm, or sometime in night, check my P5 and it's always 100% before any alarm I set, but 4+ hours early is pretty prompt 🤣

I got the Pixel 5 on launch, this is now my second Pixel and overall "I Love It". My only complaint is the laggy automatic screen brightness adjustment, my Pixel 2 was so much more responsive

Pixel 5 owner here. I haven't had any of the overheating problems mentioned but I always leave my phone on 60Hz instead of 90 since it prolongs battery life and I really don't care for that feature. The compact form and water resistance are a must have for me and so that's why I wouldn't consider the 4a 5G as an option. Picture quality is also second to none and battery life is superb thanks to the lower end chipset snapdragon 765G. No regrets getting this phone and it marks all the important check boxes that I rely on. Simply phenomenal.

I was hoping to get a Pixel 5 this year (upgrade finally from my original pixel 3) for camera experience and stuff... Should I be concerned about the overheating issue? I haven't seen a lot of people talk about it before

I've not experienced it. I can only think it's because it's black with metal under the resin, it absorbs the heat. I never leave my phone out in the sun, sun plus glass and electronics don't mix. I have the Pixel 5 and it's never overheated. The hottest it will be, will be on first use and then after it's settled down you will have no issues.

@@mattyguitar22 I honestly don't think you'll have issues but it's just something to think about. With a case on I don't think it will be a problem as that will protect it from the sun, also if you have a screen protector. I don't believe Techspurt uses either of these to truly 'test' the device.

Had the phone since launch and haven't had any overheating issues whatsoever. My biggest gripe is the appalling sound quality from the speaker behind the screen. That and I have a slight gap around the screen. A bit disappointing compared to the Pixel 3 XL.

Do you get proximity sensor issues? I love my pixel 5 and that has been the only thing that bugs me out, other than that it's such a prevent phone for me.

Pixel 4a 5G is a MUCH better deal. It's practically the same thing.

4a 5G is a great phone, but I wanted the extra 2gb of ram and 90hz display. My mum has the standard 4a and my phone keeps apps in ram much better than hers because of the 2gb of ram. So with that the phone feels a little bit faster because it's not having to load apps all the time etc.
