PSA - Don't change the Developer Option 'Animator duration scale'. There's a bug that causes the fingerprint icon (and battery percent) to not appear on the Always On Display if you change it to less than 1x. And when it's not there you need to wake the screen to use the fingerprint sensor. The other two animation settings don't seem to affect it.

Definitely take note of this advice! Leave Animator Duration Scale at 1x, the other 2 are okay and still result in much snappier experience.

Google actually didn't get rid of the swipe feature. It's still baked in there. I have that enabled on my Pixel 6 Pro. It's under the gesture settings.

Oh thank goodness. I have my 6 pro coming and I was disappointed. I use that feature all the time, and as other reviewers have said, the power button is pretty high up.

I'm getting my first look at Android 12 when my Pixel 6 gets here and I've been worrying about the battery stuff, but now the vids are coming out like yours that say - wait - not so fast, just make some adjustments. Battery life should be fine on both phones the pixel 6 and 6 Pro I'm getting great battery life on the 6 Pro and I've seen plenty of videos where people are getting about eight hours of on screen time only pixel 6 and 6 Pro remember it has adaptive battery so it has to take time to get used to you using the phone and then it adjusts itself to your usage you should see great battery Improvement within a week or two

Some carriers don't allow you disable 5G in SIM settings. You'll need use diagnostic mode or the dialer to access the secret menu to adjust carrier settings. Some posts on Reddit give you the number to dial. KZbin keeps deleting it when I post it so you'll have to search for it.

On At&t. You can flick the Sim from on to off, back to on. If you scroll down quickly you can select the option for network preference.

Thanks. Several of these were very helpful. [Edit: When you have time, please go into more detail about Find My Device. In Security, it is green checked as On, however it is not enabled in Device Admin apps and I do not have the app downloaded to the phone from the Google Play Store. Is it actually on? A bit confusing that it is green checked in Security in Settings but not enabled in Device Admin apps even though it shows up in the list. Thanks if you know the answer.]

Also it requires your Location to be On at all times which eats up the battery, which is a real shame. 👉I wish there was a way to remotely Activate the feature via my Google account, so that once Find My Device is activated online, the next time the phone connects to the net, it's remotely activated & sends location to my Google account. Of course, if Google implemented that, they wouldn't be able to constantly know your location for their ad data... 🤔

Great video, especially for pixel's first-time users like me, I sadly still prefer my nearly 5-year old OnePlus 5 for video recording and battery! Battery life is the major flaw of this phone - camera is the only app that can't be restricted / optimised and it drained 10% of the battery for 2-3 mins usage on my first day just shooting 4 photos, possibly due to low light feature, already flagged by a reviewer. I have restricted most of the apps as you suggested, let's see if it works! I really hope they will fix the camera usage with future updates, for now I am keeping usage to minimum with Bluetooth & location off when I don't need them + brightness at 40% max

After more days of testing, I am more optimistic about battery performance, restricting apps and brightness up to 40% seems to be beneficial, a light user (up to 2 hrs between socials and browsing) can achieve 20 hours for the 55% battery I use - never below 25% or over 80% as recommended to boost battery life. More intensive usage, mostly camera or video editing, can think about 6-8 hrs for the same 55%, using camera for 20-30 minutes can eat 15-20% still okish or expected. You should buy the Pixel if you shoot photos, especially by night, (Night Sight feature is mind-blowing, on the other hand photos with flash are very whitey, though nobody should use flash photography in general), if you don't want to spend 700+ GBP for a flagship. Flaws: it is big, 6'' would have been better, a bit hot, avg temperature 35-40 Celsius though I can barely feel it with Spigen Tough Armour case; video recording is decent but OnePlus 9 pro seems better from other videos on KZbin, similarly audio recording in pixel 6 is average to subpar, not suitable for concerts. Xiaomi 11 seems better for the camera but with abysmal battery and dodgy OS. OnePlus remains the best alternative, better OS and battery, OnePlus 10 is due spring 2022 so I would wait if you can though I doubt it they will drop their prices - OnePlus 9 is slightly more expensive than pixel 6 and still no telephoto, so they must improve the camera in the cheaper version to beat pixel 6 at this price level

Hi man, just wanted to know how the battery does now after all the updates? I just bought the phone, and it dies in like a min after dropping below 10% I'm v concerned about this, although the overall battery is decent.

@@shresthgupta8136 I normally don't let the phone go below 15% (typically it shouldn't be charged more than 80% either) so I can't tell how it lasts for the last 10%. However battery performance improved after the first months, with normal usage the 65% I use can last up to 22 hours on avg: location, camera & 4g are definitely the bits that can reduce this time, on a day out the same 65% can last 8-10hrs max

Dark wallpaper works on pixel 6 pro? Its an OLED display not an amoled. On amoled dark pixel are off and save battery life.

Why do I get more battery capacity when I charge my phone for a short time rather than overnight. When I charge overnight, I get 13hrs of battery capacity at 100%. When I charge in the middle of the day for about an hour, I get 17-19hrs of battery capacity at 80-85%

I think it's the new way it charges the adaptive charging it trys to learn when you charge your phone and what time you charge your phone when u sleep ..I pulled my phone in at night it didn't charge at all bcuz it knows I don't wake up till a curtain time so it's goin to slowly charge it so right when I wake up it's at 100 instead of it being at 100 all night when I'm sleep sitting on the charger

If you have it on smooth display it goes from 10 to 120 but you can put it on only 60 if you prefer.

You can have location on all the time and for certain apps it'll use location only when the app is used. Location on is needed for find my device to work.

Anyone else having problems with how long it takes to charge the pixel 6 pro? Mine takes forever. Like 4 hours. I'm using my 30 Watt fast charger from my OnePlus 7t and it still takes forever

That charger probably doesn't have all the specific things it needs. I don't know the specifics sorry but it probably isn't charging at 30 Watts and more probably charging at the standard 15 Watts.

What I've noticed with these OEM fast chargers, is that they only fast charge the phone they came with / built for. You would need to either buy the Google fast charger, or an aftermarket one designed to work on all phones.

I'm not having any issues at all. I was charging it with the fast charger that came with my Note 20 and it was okay but I recently picked up the Google 30 watt charger and it charges the device from 0% in about 90 mins. Google went with a 30 watt PPS charger, so if you want the full benefits you have to make sure it's a PPS charger.

5G seems to be a major battery drainer on this phone. Not sure what type of modem Google decided to use but it's not worth to enable 5G if you don't want to have battery issues. That's the main reason why I won't buy it...
