Always love how you script your videos, so it’s harder to predict who you’ll say will do better! (I.e., “after this round, we’d think X phone would do better…” and we might think “but we’re wrong” or he may say “and we’re right”, so it could go either way. Of course, from iPhone track record, we can guess who does better, but from how Phone Buff scripts it, it isn’t always the case.)

Neither one is fantastic in battery life when you consider they are on wifi but the iPhone was still way better. The battery life gap between the two would be even bigger on mobile data since the iPhone has a much more power efficient Qualcomm modem compared to the Pixel's garbage Exynos modem. The standby drain of the Pixel 7 Pro was decent. A little better than the Pixel 5 but not even close to my old Pixel 2 XL which was the best standby strain I've ever experienced on a phone. I upgraded from the 6 pro to the 7 pro and my first observation was the battery life, the 7 pro has a way batter bettery life than the 6 pro and, compared to the iPhone 14 PM, if we take in consideration that for Google it's only their second Chip and in 5nm instead of 4nm, just imagine what Google can do with a 4nm Chip and a just some updates : it could easily stand up next to the newest iPhone, so, I can't wait to see what Google will do with the next Pixels ^^

Last week I woke up at 5:30AM and took my phone off the charter. Ended the day at 9pm with 57% and 2h of screen on time. Left it over night, dropped to 51%, and used the phone again from 5:30am to 9pm with 5% left. Full 2 days on a pixel 7 pro. Adaptive battery gives the pixel at least an extra half a day based on your usage. I would recommend to redo this test but only with the pixel over 2 weeks to see if it improves.

I'm doing the same on my 1-year old iPhone 13 Pro Max (battery health 97%) on iOS 16.1, except I finish the second day with around 20-30% battery left. this is almost every day with a 2/2.5 hours screen on time. last week I went on a family trip, took a lot of pictures, a lot of google maps use and my iPhone went from 100 to 15 every day with 9 hours screen on time

Apple also use8adaptive battery as standard, but calls it optimisation. Whatever the Pixel does the iPhone would get better results. But as you say, for most of us the Pixel has great battery life.

And also the battery size of the iPhone is smaller , tbh, apple s optimization on the A16 chip is really impressive. Many of my friends using pixel for gaming is suffered from severe battery drain n overheating, and well, heat harms the battery 🪫

I think a battery test from the Pixel 7 Pro against the iPhone 14 Plus would be a more accurate test since the Pixel 7 Pro and iPhone 14 Plus cost the same amount.

Then you're opening the door for people to complain that the 14 plus only runs in 60hz. And the battery size is bigger on the plus. The pixel will lose even worse cause of the lower refresh rate. Lol

It doesn't matter much if both can get you through a whole day, you are going to charge both of them at night anyway. Although having more screen time means that you can charge the lithium ion batteries to only 80% to extend the battery's lifespan, and still have enough for a whole day.

These are all anecdotal to specific circumstances. Nobody's going to have the same results..me for instance. I've gone over 24hrs multiple times now before hitting 15% or less on my 7 Pro (which is getting annoying because my daily charge schedule is completely jacked) and other ppl can't make it through a work day.
@andyH_England
@andyH_England Жыл бұрын
This is not anecdotal, this is a scientific test. Your usage is subjective and therefore anecdotal. There are, of course, other apps that a randon user may use, but overall this tests covers the main spectrum. It is quite clear that if you used the 14 Pro Max instead of the Pixel you would be left with >35% rather than the P7P 15%. Whether that is important is another matter, buit in 1-2 years when the battery has degraded you may be running out of battery on a daily basis and you would not on the iPhone.

The pixel 7A has even a better battery, I think that could be a good opponent. However, the price range is over 800 USD difference. On top of that, adaptive battery on Pixel would make a significant difference in the comparison.
