The Pixel 6a with its older IMX363 sensor goes toe to toe with my iPhone 14 Pro and sometimes even takes better photos than it in daylight. It's quite insane tbh

The imx363 can be easily one of if not the most optimized camera sensor of all time. I used to have a pixel 2xl and now I'm with a pixel 7 as a daily drive. Honestly, the difference sometimes can be really really small

Very VERY nice video Steven I just subscribed! As a pixel 6a owner I'm sitting here asking myself if the 7a is worth spending the money to upgrade, and your video has moved me into the yes column. You break down the 7a camera features so that anyone can understand them, explain how to go from pushing the camera shutter button to using quite a few of the more advanced features in the camera, and after watching this video someone could pick up a 7a and start shooting well composed pics and videos if they mimicked your style - well done!

Thank you for this series! I've been looking for a phone to film food videos with (mostly ASMR clips that are more close up) and I've been hovering between the Pixel 7 pro and iPhone 14. I was inclined to get the iPhone because I'm editing on an iPad and the connectivity would make things much faster and easier, yet I didn't really wanna spend so much on a phone just to film with. So I might go for the 7a. I have good lighting conditions so I guess the camera will perform very well. I want 4k footage so that I can zoom in without losing a lot of quality. Do you think the 7a will do the job? I haven't really seen any reviews that film things closer.

THank you for both of your videos. I have this phone and I had Pixel 6a before, what I do not like is: having same price as currently Pixel 7, the sensor of the camera is smaller and brightness is lower, also the back side of the phone is from plastic. I bought it because it was immediately available, and Pixel 7 was not. But anyway for a 500 USD it is the best up-to-date Android phone you can buy new.

@@stevendivish You're welcome to be my guest. :) I want you to review Xiaomi 13 Ultra with Sony IMX989 1″ sensor, 1.6μm pixels, f/1.9 and f/4.0-aperture lens, and Leica Lens. DXOmark was partial with its rating. Every other review that I saw on KZbin with it emphasized otherwise. I would absolutely love for you to try that Smartphone. It's Camera is even better than Samsung S23 Ultra and Pixel 7 Pro on low light and other parameters.

@@stevendivish Majority of youtubers never shows the RAW capabilities of maximum phone cameras, I would love for you to make a comparison video of RAW capabilities of camera of phones like pixel, galaxy S ultra and non ultra and obviously iphone 14 pro and if you are planning to visit India, monsoon is the best season for all the colors and vibrancy, but most foreigners prefer winters as it is less extreme for them here, although everything is colorless during winters.

Nice video Steve. I have a question, are you facing high contrast photos are the photos processed? I have latest camera version of 8.9 something. I have pixel 6a, I see photos come out to be very dark and over contrasty.

To be honest not really...If a photo looks too contrasty to me then I just tweak it with manual settings, so I havent noticed it to be honest... Perhaps you might have the exposure slider lowered hence the photos come out darker?

@@stevendivish I turned off the manual slider now. I see little improvements but still the photos come out to be a little dark. In preview the photos look good but after processing they come out dark. I see many people complaining the same on Google forum

The problem is that I would have to film on a main camera in HDR as well, however the dynamic range is larger if I use the logarithmic gamma picture profile...But Maybe I will give it a shot just for fun! Thanks for the idea and your support!

You should try MCPRO 24 FPS. And disable all Sharpness and Noise reduction. Trust me it will turn your phone into A mirrorless. You can even do 10 bit HDR video

As someone who had a HOKIA phone earlier, I'm not very impressed by the camera on my current phone. Even on NOKIA 8.1 the camera was not worse, the video was better. The camera app had the manual settings, as on professional photo camera, which I liked very much. Any way, Pixel 7a has a good camera, but the video, when moving is ugly. The Nokia I could mount on bike and use as action camera, but this one is impossible to use in this way.

Photos Look more natural and less software process from the pixel, but overall the s23 ultra offers more versatility with expert raw mode in terms of manual controls etc. So if we talk about the auto mode, then some shots DO LOOK nicer and more natural from the pixel which was a pleasant surprise for me!

Your gimbal only stabilises on 2 axis, it's not a full gimbal

@@stevendivish there is lot of marketing fluff on that. It's clear that it doesn't stabilise vertical movement since that requires the arm to bend. You can see in your footage when you walk the only shakes are up and down. I don't blame you for it since the gimbal makers lie about it, and only expensive once offer the full stabilisation because it takes more motors, weight and size to do.

For a $400 phone (at least on sale for about that recently) the Pixel series of phones are literally the best phones out there. The bang for your buck makes the thought of getting another flagship Samsung unthinkable to me. I've always hated Apple products ever since playing Oregon trail on one in my new school in 5th grade after my 4th grade school having IBM's. The IBM computers were WAY better and easier to use. Not sure who came up with the idea that Apple products are easy to use. It's ALL marketing! They give you zero control and apple killed the headphone jack for no reason!
