@ranjithk91502 ай бұрын
@@RandomTrueCrime-e1l technically speaking, pixel is much more powerful than 13 pro max and in the android world it is close to last gen snapdragon 8 gen 2 chipset (roughly the same as z fold 5). I am not sure of its performance under sustained load like gaming as I am not a gamer. But for other day to day use cases like browsing, reading etc, absolutely no problem. I went for pixel because I like the clean android experience. If you are not bothered about that, hardware wise Vivo x fold 3 pro, honor magic v3 are superior, may be even one plus open. @Spencebot423 ай бұрын
@@mrkring1526 depends on what you want. I'd want a fold primarily to use the inner screen for video, so the added height just makes the thing more awkward to carry and creates ridiculously large letter boxing. I also don't like the height for one-handed use.
@michaelcorcoran87683 ай бұрын
@@mrkring1526It's definitely use case dependent but I prefer passport. In part because I think it's a nice solution to having a good one-handed phone when it's closed. You can actually reach everything. But I have to assume I'm in the minority since oppo and Google abandoned the passport design pretty quickly.
@velocity2113 ай бұрын
@@Spencebot42 Yeah same here. I used a Galaxy z fold 4 before my PF1. That taller aspect ratio and the inner display ratio was less than desirable. Having said that, if that's the only choice going forward, I'll probably stick to the galaxy z fold line. Way more and better features.
@kornkernel22323 ай бұрын
Yeah, even though I'm a Galaxy Z Fold user myself, I wish that the alternatives such as Google still offer that wider aspect ratio. I know the app problem in Android is the reason why they went to this decision, but then we need time for that and if we know Google itself is pushing it and maybe more other OEMs copying it, the better for the ecosystem. This leaves OnePlus left in the industry doing this. Samsung is arguably the "most" popular for book-type foldable phone, but their approach is different, going for more narrower more ergonomic folded design that is rather conventional when unfolded, but Samsung OneUI can actually force these apps to adapt to wider aspect ratio. But that capability is not baked to stock Android features. But we wouldn't need that force hackery if only someone will push Android developers to make an effort to make apps more tablet friendly.

Because I have petite hands, and I will only lug around a massive flagship or a foldable that can become a 6+ inch slab when Apple pries my 12 Mini from my cold, dead hands, I think it would be amazing to have a modern foldable phone exactly like the Motorola FlipOut. That super-satisfying hinge action with the current chassis thinness, a modern UI, edge to edge screen, physical keyboard, and more compact hinge would be lovely. I sincerely think the FlipOut's design and small screen were a great idea that was just too ahead of its time. Try it out on When Phones Were Fun and I think you may agree, there's some good ideas there for alternate foldable design, even if most people would never put up with a screen less than 6 inches now.

06:16 That's true, the Pixel doesn't cut off the headphone audio while recodring a video, which is great. On the other hand, if you live in a place like Japan, then hearing the shutter sound interrupting whatever you're listening when taking a photo is a major annoyance. I don't understand why Google needs to do that. Just have the shutter sound play on the speakers. The iPhone doesn't suffer from the interrputing shutter sound issue while wearing headphones (it does cut off the headphone audio during video recording, though).

I have the P9PF. I have told buddies if you can swallow the cost side you will never go back to a standard phone. The drag and drop from photos and files to cloud apps makes this thing the best. You mainly use the phone closed as any normal phone until you get to excel spreadsheets, vudeos, games or anything you feel like real estate matters. It solves a problem we didnt know we had. This video nails most everything. I probably wont be dropping another 2 grand on the next years version but man I have I will.

As an Apple user, I think Google's foldables are compelling, so it really annoys me when they don't seem to put that last 10% of effort into their devices. Another great video and a fantastic overview of the latest fold. Thanks Micheal. I see you snuck in a reference to TNG 'Relics'

It would be nice to have the passport style fold next year as the 10 fold (budget model) and the current fold as the 10 pro fold with current pro cameras. I think they can ditch the temperature sensor, upgrade the face unlock for better night performance and put a bigger battery. That's what I'm hoping for anyway. I want the 9 fold, but I may get the 9 pro xl this year and hope Google makes solid upgrades next year with a new ARM chip for the 10 pro fold.

As someone who has to closely track various cat biometrics like blood counts, weights, etc...fully sympathize with having to track them regularly. Love your reviews!

Loved my Fold 3, the only thing that bugged me was 1. The factory interior screen protector kept lifting and 2. My inner screen cracked down the middle when I opened the phone randomly.

This is my first Pixel device and boy am I impressed! I also got the Fold 6 but I'm in a real pickle to decide which one to use, alternating randomly but maybe carrying 2 folds ain't so bad 😂

I’ve been wanting to switch to a foldable since they came out, however, for the price point they’re at & having to sacrifice both camera quality & battery performance I’ve never been willing to take the plunge. If one of these could at least give the same battery performance as their corresponding top-of-the-line slab phone then I would, as I’m not a huge camera user. Each year though I’m unwilling to compromise having to sacrifice on both for the cost.
