- I wouldn't describe the Pixel 5's fingerprint sensor location as "outdated" - I actually prefer it. You can set it such that swiping up/down on the fingerprint sensor opens/closes your notification tray, a feature I'm going to miss. - Correction: I can confirm that the Pixel 5 IS CAPABLE of not only wireless charging, but it can also wirelessly charge other devices. - The last update for the Pixel 5 was the 5th November 2023 Android 14 security update. - 4:37 "An update is available for Camera" - It may or may not make a difference, but in the interest of fairness and accuracy I would recommend that all apps are fully updated on BOTH phones, prior to testing. - 4:54 Did you figure out why the Play Store app was failing to start? I've only ever had that issue on my Pixel 5 once, and IIRC it was because it required updating. - I would also point out that the Pixel 5's selfie camera cannot record faster than 30fps whereas the 9's selfie camera can record up to 60fps. - I swear, my Pixel 5 Camera app definitely had more features at launch than it does now! Overall, I don't really have any issues with my Pixel 5, I'm still quite happy with it. I've had it since 2020 and the battery is holding up surprisingly well. The only reason I'm considering a new phone now is due to the lack of security updates. Do you think there's enough of an improvement over the Pixel 5 to justify the cost of a Pixel 9, or chance another year to wait for the Pixel 10? It doesn't look like there's much of a difference in the video, but I'm aware that it can often feel very different in-person.

its crazy how phones (new) these days are useless in such a way where older phones can pretty much get the job done, the question is do we really need the newer devices?

You are absolutely correct. I'm using the pixel 3xl with a custom ROM based on pixel software. The phone is plenty fast

I have a pixel 5 and it feels awesome to hold. I wish Google made the new lineup with the old design. Now it's kind of like an iPhone.

I'm completely satisfied with my Pixel 5 and have no desire to change it, it's still fast, beautiful, and has good battery life. Newer Pixel smartphones are much worse in terms of ergonomics

You're saying things backwards.. P5 has wireless charging and can wirelessly charge other devices. the P9 has a dead battery because it runs 33% faster and is busy trying to do AI on everything. the P5 has a solid aluminum with plastic coating back, while the P9 has fragile glass. The P5 has a fingerprint sensor on the back where you can easily touch it, and it doesnt make prints, the P9 requires you to use two hands, set it down, or flip the phone away from you to touch it. When you compare them the P9 is a massive step backwards for the end user, but its not.. its just the current endpoint of a bunch of small steps further from what is useful for the end user.

Thanks a lot for the comparison! Definitely helped me in deciding to give my (almost) four years old Pixel 5 at least another year. :)

I'm upgrading from the pixel 5, to the 9. So, thanks for this video!
@Matt-fo4gg3 ай бұрын
Appreciate you showing them side by side, since it's good to see especially from the side. All things considered though - nobody is upgrading from a Pixel 5 because it launches apps a fraction of a second slower than the Pixel 9. The Pixel 5 is still plenty snappy enough at everyday tasks. I'm only considering swapping because of the end of security updates really, love the size/feel/weight of the Pixel 5 and the main worry is that the Pixel 9 is going to feel considerably bigger and heavier (especially with the flat sides and bulkier camera array). Also considering the base S24, since it's much closer in size/weight to the Pixel 5

I upgraded from pixel 5a to pixel 9 and the first thing I have noticed is when I text videos they send immediately with my pixel 9 and with my pixel 5a it took at least 1 minute to text a 30 second video

The Pixel 9 is the first Pixel to look newer and better than Pixel 5. But I bet the Galaxy s25 will beat the Pixel 9.

Isn't it funny how much more phone per dollar you got from Google 4 years ago? Oh where are the dass of back mounted fingerprint-readers. They could do so much more than just unlock your phone (often faster than the new fp readers do!).

Ok, so software no real difference and EVERY other thing much better on Pixel 5. Better package, much better battery-life, much better looking and much better reviews world wide. So in short; reverse everything this reviewer tells you and you got the best deal. I bought mine last week! 😎

@@farhantanvir4213It also shows that google has not come as far as you would expect after 4 years of development. It almost seems like they are not really trying to build good phones. They only need to be good enough to run Gemini, apparently.

@@farhantanvir4213 I found this video quite helpful, considering that I currently have a Pixel 5. Most of my camera usage is scanning QR codes or translating text, so every other aspect where the 9 has improved doesn't seem enough to justify the cost for me.
