Finally purchased and started wearing the Pixel 3 45mm watch and loving the larger screen. I'm a gym mouse (not quite a gym rat, but I do workout out there a lot) -- finding the watch very easy to navigate and use. I've been wearing a cheap "knock off" smartwatch for years (cost me $35 on Amazon) that does everything, but wanted to splurge and use my birthday gift cash for a better quality watch! I don't run, but I enjoy the other features like Sleep, HR, and connection to phone for email and calls. Only thing I wish I could do with the app is remove all the activities I do not use, and be able to scroll directly to Workout, without having to go through the entire alphabet to do so.

For me, my most recent used exercises show up at the top of the list so no need to scroll. In fact my last used exercise shows up on the main tile itself ... Maybe just try playing around with it and you might surprise yourself!

Do you think a comparison between Pixel cardio load, daily status etc., and Garmin training load, training status, body battery etc. would be possible? As a fitness device it would be interesting to see how they compare especially now that Pixel can pull load data without starting an activity which Garmin can't do.

Great video as usual! I've tested the PW3 45mm on a few 7 mile runs and have experienced terrible HR cadence lock on the last several miles. It's perfectly in sync with my chest strap for the first half of the run and then elevates to crazy high levels (like over 170bps) while my chest strap is steady at 140. Doesn't look like you experienced this at all based on your runs, so wondering if I have a funky unit! GPS and pace was shockingly excellent (even on trails), but was surprised by my specific negative experience with the HR given all the hype around the new running algorithm.
@supercurioTube4 ай бұрын
I experience cadence lock on the Fitbit Charge 6 as well making it unusable for running, which was not identified by reviewers. The Charge 6 shares the HR algorithm with the Pixel 2 watch but maybe the issue is still there for some on the Pixel Watch 3 like you're experiencing.
@JuanVinton4 ай бұрын
I ran a few times with a pixel watch 3 45 mm and for a steady state run, the HR was spot on with my chest strap. However, when I did a shorter high intensity run, the HR had a little trouble in certain spots. This could have been due to me not wearing it appropriately. I.e. maybe I could have made sure the fit was secure. But it's tough to tell. A bit of a tangent... I swim everyday with my Garmin. I was very disappointed at the metrics in the pixel. Watch. It basically just gives you how long you've swam. It doesn't give you HR or distance or anything else. It's not a big deal, but I felt that was a feature that was really lacking compared to the competition.

I had the pixel watch 3 xl. Screen was beautiful. I actually loved the stock face. My issue is it was scratched pretty bad within 24 hours just from going to the gym. Crazy thing is it was LEG DAY. So I wasn't doing anything upper body and don't even remember really hitting or bumping it up against anything. I was also wearing a hoodie which generally stretched over the watch. But suddenly, I got home and looked down and was HORRIFIED considering I'd just gotten the watch about 15 hours prior. I ended up sending it back. I've worn my pixel watch 2 to the gym multiple times and don't have a single scratch on it.

@miket36524 ай бұрын
Fitbit/Googles sleep tracking algorithm is objectively more accurate than Garmins, so this makes sense. Garmin has not been able to get their accuracy above 40-60% for sleep cycle tracking, where Fitbit/Google and Apple are much more accurate. Garmin really needs to improve their algorithm especially for the price they charge for their devices.
@Loc17924 ай бұрын
It's quite strange that Garmin can't seem to resolve this issue when they are so advanced in other features, unlike Fitbit, Apple, and Whoop. For instance, when I used Fitbit, it would show me how much I slept without ending my sleep session. If I fell asleep again, it would track it. Here, I need to end my sleep session only then will I know how long I slept. If Fitbit or Google come out with a more rugged-looking watch, I may just pick one up.

Neither my Garmin 830, powermeter or my Samsung ultra watch help with my training. Just resting HR, my feel and then I decide what to do that day. Much more fun and easier 😁. Just like I did back when I did amateur bike races. I upload my training data to two training platforms and they are also completely off when they "calculate" my actual form. They tend to want me to train way more than needed and actually driving me towards traning to much. What I use the platforms for is a training notebook, because that is useful to take notes every day. I usually train 10-17 hours a week, mostly bike.

No Ray I'm wearing the watch and using the Peloton app on the watch itself. It auto connects to my Peloton and broadcasts heart rate during the ride. When the ride is finished the Peloton workout shows up in Fitbit as a walk (bizarrely) with calorie info and distance but always a zero cardio load frustrating when you've just done a 45 minute power zone max ride for example and my daily cardio load ends up at 8! Have ordered a HR strap so will try hooking that up to the Peloton bike and forgoing the app on my watch. I will keep my watch on at the same time and see what happens.
