Ethan Pender look, I’m not in favour of a monitor stand for a $1000 but a chrome book for a thousand is probably the worst purchase decision anyone can ever make. If you want build quality The MacBook Air is $1000 and has 256gb storage, 8gb ram and has an actually usable OS. Or just get any windows laptop for half the price. You’ll actually be able to get some work done. I think this is a point where Mac and Windows users will unite and tell google to fuck off. If you buy this for real you’re a moron

Malachi Adams You’re trolling right? $500 for a Chromebook is still a lot when compared to what windows offers at that price point. And at the $1000 point the gap is night and day compared to MacBooks and high end windows machines. And also if they can justify that price trust me no one is going for the Chromebook. It’s not even part of the conversation cos it lags so far behind what a similarly priced Dell XPS, Spectre or MacBook 13” can do. And I have never ever met anyone who prefers ChromeOS over windows and MacOS. Cos the whole point of chromeos was to offer people who can’t afford a windows or Apple laptop an alternative at a couple of hundred dollars with limited functionality. A $1000 chromebook completely defeats the purpose of chromeOS itself

Good review. It would make sense if there would be a flippable third (middle) insert to perform as a glare screen shield when used as a laptop or a protective key cover when used as a touchpad. This nonscratchable insert could house the pen centered and extending from the base of the computer. The insert could have caps on one or either side to remove the stylis on either the left or right side. (I would illustrate what I am talking about but I would need a new Pixelbook to illustrate with the stylis.) This could be a possible Google item for purchase.

Samsung Chromebook Pro user here. Google Keep (Chrome or Android) doesn't support pressure sensitivity, and the thickness is determined from the speed of the stroke. Try Squid which is a pretty good note-taking app with pressure sensing.

Just so you know, after watching your video right when you published it I ran and bought one. I EFFING LOVE IT! Nine months using it every day. My last machine was a Macbook Air 12", and Mac laptops since 2004. Anyway, I only do email, web and office apps for my work. I still have my desktop mac for heavy work which I never did in my laptops anyway. Best laptop I've ever had so far. I love the feel, how it turns on, how it unlocks with my pixel phone nearby (which also did with my Samsung S7 before). This thing flies! Never got the pen though.

@@yannick5093 Yes, most of them for sure. At present, those who use the more advanced features of excel probably won't get by- those who use it to generate projections and the like. This is a very small percentage of users. Most users turn excel into a simple list sorting and tracking tool- a task which google sheets is just as well suited. I use a chromebook for everything I do at work, a professional job. I kept my laptop that runs Windows 10 for those things that can't be done on the chromebook, which really amounts it being my computer for my hobbies (recording, mixing music).

arth kumar great, but what about other specs? Graphics, battery life? Screen? How about form factor, weight, portability, and material quality? What about I/O? Does it have touch screen? And that storage? Is it ssd? When will people learn that you can’t just compare few random specs and call it a day. Not defending the pixel book, but for people working on a go, your dell laptop offers literally nothing important, apart of OS. Pixelbook is at least very portable, built to last, and has decent battery life. And chrome os is perfect for working on group projects. And obviously while the official price is 999$ you gain get it cheaper than 750$. So from what you’ve posted someone can argue that your dell is a bad deal...

I am loving my new Pixelbook with one ( two ) huge exceptions. #1 Bluetooth won't pair/recognize ANYTHING. I just spent 30 mins with Google Chat support. The only "attempt" they could offer right now is a factory reset but no guarantee of the bluetooth radio working properly after this. They advised they are working on a fix which will come through an update but there is no date forcast for this. # 2 is I am having a bugger of a time figuring out how to set my files up as I would in a Windows environment. I use Tweetdeck and Facebook to manage a couple of online organizations and finding content (images mostly) that I used to have organized on my Lenovo in various directories - is really difficult. Some stuff won't move over from my Google Drive into my "files" tab and sometimes they are there and then not when I go back to them. Otherwise. I LOVE this laptop. I was worried about leaving my beloved Lenovo track nub in the center of the keyboard behind. Ive used this for over a decade and didn't think I'd survive without it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the pixelbook track pad!! It's awesome and I especially love the keyboard. It's a great machine. I just wish I had access to a Google Genius like Apple has to help walk me through the initial set up so I can customize my experience .

You can dual boot it with crouton which yields a linux/ubuntu environment. On my $300 chromebook, it was by far the coolest feature. I could have access to a tonne of stuff that chrome OS wouldn't have allowed otherwise. So you can definitely make use of the RAM and the processor in that respect. I had a shit processor and 4gb of RAM on my chromebook and it was still blazing fast-- chromeOS doesn't require much to run. Seems like they're kind of asking you to sideload another program somehow or another with those specs.

This device is for everyone who just does basic stuff on their computer, but also values premium hardware. The only reason that this seems "weird", or "crappy", is that your perspective has been twisted by society taking OS's like Windows/OSX for granted as the only option. Open your eyes. The majority of people only need Google Chrome to do everything they do.

The only thing that the Pixelbook is offering that let's say a phone isn't, is a larger display and a physical keyboard. I also find it funny how they promoted their feature of being able to unlock your laptop by using your pixel's fingerprint scanner instead of just outright including a fingerprint scanner on the laptop itself...
