I agree that Search goes too far when paying to be default in other platforms but also let's not act life Android didnt change the mobile landscape MORE than Apple being that it runs on everything from phones to TVs and is open sourced to be used by others and that Chrome in the same vein while dominant was a choice from every customer to download. Not mandatory like IE or Safari was for a while and still is on iOS. Chromium is open sourced too. Google is the only trillion dollar company giving away technology via open source that its own competitors use against it, Android, Chrome, Kubernetes in the cloud space. If they could find a way to open up ads and search for competitors to use as well I'm sure they would by comparison none of the others would do it besides possibly Facebook but only strategically.

This is good actually. Google controlling chrome means they are basically in control of the internet. Most browsers are using chrome as its base. And that comes with bowing down to how they want you to view the internet. Ads, and everything else they decide. This is a good thing for consumers. One company shouldn’t have that much control.

@@Admiral-General_Aladeen It only became illegal because it became too successful. So the legality of it came afterwards. An illegal monopoly is a silly thing. Imagine discovering a cure to cancer, it's made from one specific person's blood. Now this person can either keep it for himself or they HAVE to sell it to other companies otherwise it's a monopoly. I don't like Google but I believe if you create/invent or innovate something, you should be able keep the rights to it. Other companies will buy Chrome for what? Other than large advertising businesses, I don't see any reason for any company to take on the burden to maintain Chrome.... And if you sell to other large advertising business, like Meta or even Microsoft, that's a weak argument, you are just transferring something to another monopoly.

Google was declared an illegal monopoly by a US judge recently and the unethical practices they used is the reason Chrome owns over 85% of the market share. That is why Google needs to be broken into different companies.
@Infernal_PuppetКүн бұрын
Google and big tech actively sabotage the competition by arbitrarily changing web standards to make it hard for any smaller competitors to keep up and sometimes sabotage the performance of browsers that aren’t chrome by limiting streaming services quality. You only have two choices for browsers now: Chrome, Edge, and Brave are all based on Chromium which is largely controlled by Google. And then you have Firefox and its forks.
@BabyGrinch23Күн бұрын
That's a very childish and insincere way of looking at it. Google currently has one of the worst search engines on the market, before when you searched for something the most important thing was to give you the result you were looking for, for now the most important thing is that you stay in the search engine until you find what you are looking for because that way they make more money , not to mention that the first results you get are advertisements. The point is that Google has such a strong hold on the market that it can afford to harm users and give them a worse experience in order to make more money. Antitrust organizations try to avoid that, but many politicians bought by companies avoid it. Do you like to kneel to multimillion-dollar companies?

Well that's the problem. They can't make a better browser because Google pays billions to suppress competition and prevent others from acquiring the data needed to produce a viable competition.

For those that do not know, Google Owns: A DNS (thing that solves internet addresses) A search engine, the most used. A web browser engine, blink, that is about 90% of the market. In car terms, they own the engine that goes into 9 out of 10 cars in the road, they own the most popular place search, and they also own a freaking map business. Meaning that google can effectively decide where people can go, what business can thrive and even who get to be on the map at all.
