This is probably, if not the most, useful google sheets tool that I'll be using from now on for report-building. Somehow, managers don't love pivot-table based reports. So this is a pretty handy idea when combined with the "unique" function to bring rows from a flatfile and process accounting reports.

I really like your tone and flow of your voice, makes understanding the process easier... not boring, yet had my attention. Can you show how to use Vlookup up and how to compare two lists and update the new data from another into one updated sheet. I see a lot of simplified Vlookup up, yet in the real world... I find myself doing things the long way and realizing when i'm almost done that I could of done it easier and quicker!

This is excellent. I watched the first few minutes and found exactly what I needed to do to track changes in payments for items I am trying to get paid off. My brain was thinking about ranges and dynamic links, and not sure where to start, but this was so much easier! Now I can enter the payment in my check register tab and won't have to adjust the payment in my loan tracking tab each time I make an additional payment or change the amount. Thank you!

Great tutorial! Your delivery is direct and relaxed at the same time. I came looking for an importrange refresher and you covered the importrange/query combo which I'd not previously done. I'm a big fan of using the Where parameter in the query to get rid of those blanks rows instead of specifying a range in the import function. That way you're covered if there are any changes in the imported data sets.

I have a script that imports the URLs of reports generated in a given year. Can that list of URLs be queried dynamically to obtain information from the same sheet in each worksheet? I was worrying about how powerful and frequent is import range? Does it require me to open file to update the changes? I'm looking for data of not more than 30 row by 15 columns

That’s impressive. I have a soccer ranking table, and as it’s dynamic as each team moves up or down according to their wins/loses/draws. Will *query* be my ally if I want to sort each’s team points on a column or row after watch match for the season the dynamic ranking table on page 1? Or is there another filter be better? Hey! thank you so much for the deepdive about this beautiful function. I am curios if it is possible crosslink 2 files between eachother in the same table. I hope I'm not confusing you too much. Basically I have 2 tables: Questions and Answers. And I just want to connect them together. But the challenge is when the row is inserted in Questions table, I am have misaligned response rows from Question table. I'm really curious about this idea since it would allow me a data exchange without oversharing the file where the Experts are answering the questions. I really appreciate your support!

Great Video. I want to import rows from multiple sheets to a summary sheet, but do not know how many rows will be in each sheet as they are developed. Is there some way you can write into the formula to only import rows (or parts of rows) that have data in them? need to avoid all of those blank rows in the summary sheet. Hope this makes sense. I am wondering if you know a way or command to import the entire content of a tab, with the same original formatting & formulas maintained, without using the manual process of "right click > Copy to > ..." Using Record Macro option I would like to "design" a button in my sheet that, when pressed, it would automatically generate a new tab with the content being identical to an external master spreadsheet, but using "Importrange" brings over only the "values" of the original sheet cells (i.e. no formatting, no formulas, etc.)

Very nice! I'm trying to learn to copy the simple data to a report from one sheet to another. Only, I need to be able to update it super easily each month and still keep the running monthly reports by column in the original sheet. For example: We have 3 Advisors with multiple customers. We keep a count per month, by column in the original sheet of how many are Onboarding, Monthly Advisory's , and OnDemand. The report I copy to only includes the current month counts per Advisor. I have to manually update the column for each cell every month. (there are 48 cells and room for error!) Do you know if there is an easier way to update the data (bulk update) each month?

I got a question, when I upload the excel files from the PC to the google drive, is it possible to transfer the data of the excel file in the drive (xlsx) that I have uploaded to the Google Sheets. Technically, the progress seems like PC excel files xlsx > Google Drive excel files > Google Sheets. Not quite what i am looking for but i hope you will help me to solve my problem. I need to import a dynamic table. Depth this table varies from a few to a few tens of rows, and there is another text at the bottom of the table. How to make that text rise (if the table is small) or descend (if the table is larger) at the bottom.

I have a question..I create a model for documents with hundreds of cell intervals (ex.B2:B2) linked between 1 sheet (imput) and other 4 sheets (ouputs) and I want to use it all with different data. If a create a copy it will create a new link and it should be update for every cell. Is there any way to update the link on the sheets, maybe with a multiple selection? I can't find an answer but I think it should be possible! Thnks in advance..

The thing is that at the end when demonstrating a query you referred to COL3. How could there be a Column 3, when the columns are identified with letters???

Unfortunately it is not possible to edit the cells within a query. There might be another way though. What is it that you need to accomplish?
