With only 50mbps internet it's pretty easy to get full speed. Try it with 250 or gigabit and lets see how it does :)

This wifi will only extend your signal closer depending where you set it at. If you want better speed and reliable connection you're going to need to tether directly with the Ethernet cable. Buy a long Ethernet cable to extend from your router wired to your Xbox

Did you move the Google Wifi to the location of your old router just to be fair?

You were probably using 40MHz/auto channel width on your old 2.4GHz wifi. Setting it to 20MHz gives it better speeds. This explains the difference in speed. Also, your Google Wifi is probably on the 5GHz band. Honestly, Google Wifi was made for non-techie people. If you know what you're doing, you can just get three dual-band routers and configure them to work as a mesh network via wired or WDS bridging. This is what I did, and the whole system cost less than $150 (I got lucky on deals but it would commonly be priced around $200). I constantly get 50Mbps around the house as well.

You might have a bottleneck at any point that only operates at 100Mbps; make sure each device in the network is gigabit. Should be much faster wifi than stuck at 100mbps down. Could also be the test device limit. Try a ac laptop. Google Fiber at 1Gbps should give you 450-700 down wifi.

One Ethernet connection is for incoming Internet the other is for your switch or one computer.

I pay for 100 mbps but often get higher speeds (about 110-115 mbps). My upload, however, sucks. It hovers at about 12-15 mbps and get to about 25 mbps on a good day. I'm wondering if this would help, but considering that I get such high speed up, there doesn't really seem to be a bottleneck associated with my router. Maybe I should just give Spectrum a call and threaten to leave their service lol. I hear sometimes they offer higher speeds to get you to stay with them.

I definitely recommend this. Look up the reviews and see how great it really does. I searched for several hours before deciding to pick this one up. It will do to 1,000mbs speeds, on 5g network and the signal goes so much further than the horrible stock modem I have from Frontier. I wish I got this sooner!

It just seems so strange to me that the Up speed isn't bottlenecked, but they Down is. How is that even possible? Lol. If the modem was limiting my speeds, wouldn't it limit both? This is an add on to your modem. Lots of modem have a WiFi route combo built in like mine, but i have to have it on the house and obviously doesn't give me the full speeds I'm paying for. So that's why I bought this Google WiFi point to get it closer to me in my room with the ethernet cord. So yes you can use both WiFi signals separately at the same time

From what Ive read, if you are only going to use one google wifi, then it is okay to have two wifi signals. 1 form your modem/router combo and 1 from google wifi. But if you plan to add more google wifi points, then it is better to disable the wireless function of the combo router. Something to do about double NAT and affects online gaming.

Itachi you can only configure using ios or android phone with installed wifi google apps. because it's using Bluetooth signal communicating the device .

I just got Xfinity Comcast with 1,000mbps download speeds and OMG!!! On my phone's I'm getting 600mbps over WiFi and on my hard wired PC I'm getting an average 940mbps speeds and I am in love!!!!

It's adding to your modem for another better WiFi speed connection. You can't get more speed out of what you're paying. I'm paying for 50/50 speeds and the old router dies not deliver those speeds through WiFi, so if you're like me and need to get your max mbps speeds, this is where an external router shines to take advantage of your full ISP speeds

Yes you can use wired for backhaul traffic. You need to first setup all the additional points wirelessly next to the primary point, then once they are all setup move them to where you want them and plug them into the same ethernet switch that the primary point in plugged into. The additional points will automatically detect that there is an ethernet connection back to the primary point and use that instead of wireless. Using wired backhaul greatly improves your wireless speeds on the second and especially third points because it doesn't have to share wireless client traffic with backhaul traffic between points.

When I stand next to my stock modem/router my Internet provided me with, I don't even get 50/50. I get like 25/26 So the farther away I got, the worse it gets of course, but with this Google WiFi point I can plug a long ethernet cable into my room to have it next to me close and I get the 50/50 speeds I'm supposed to rather than the crappy stock modem I got from Frontier
