@@heroe1486 Really interesting. Now my story: i have 4GiB of ram, you could say i pretty much hit the ram limit third or forth tab i open. On Windows, Chromium based Browsers dont even bother, whats even Vram bro, lemme just remove from the ram the tabs you havn't visited the last 3 tabs switch, and just refresh it whenever you return. All i had to remember is the URL and tab's thumbnail lol. I could open 60 tabs on single Chrome window and 40 in another, i can open as much tab on Chrome that the tabs symbol become unclickable, and chrome is like, do you want open more tabs? That's ok, i just have to refresh old tabs once you return to them, cause you dont have much ram. Firefox? Oh bro, Firefox tries to keep tabs in ram, it can keep more tabs in ram than chrome, up to six MAX, but once i hit RAM limit. . . Dear god. My entire system hangs, slow downs to oblivion, OS unresponsive as hell, 100% disk I/O by Firefox, while doing nothing. Once i hit that condition, i disconnected from net, not Helped. Firefox Hogged my entire HDD I/O for HALF A HOUR, while doing... nothing. Windows couldn't even run task manager. Finally i got task manager running and ended Firefox's misery. Can you imagine THAT? Full disk read/write on a browser that is not even connected to net for the past thirty or so minutes and all Firefox have to do is to cache tabs into VRAM. On Linux OS? Same problem with Firefox, it just takes a bit longer to hit the RAM limit, like three or four tabs more compared to windows, but once it hit the RAM limit and starts to swap, same problem as windows. Chromium based browsers play nice with linux too, they try to swap files on linux, in opposition to just clearing the tab from RAM on windows, and they hit in performance once swapping begins, but in reasonable amount. You could say swap is slow, yeah, and loading tabs from swap is, but its not like the madness Firefox causes.

The idea of using Firefox is so that we do not have another Internet Explorer, if that hasn't happened already. Chrome is everywhere and using Chromium isn't helping in this regard. yet again, developers won't bother respecting the standards, but what Google emphasizes with their browser. Why bother with all of this when Firefox is working just fine? Poorer security? I highly doubt so - a different security model does not necessarily mean weaker. Plus, even though it may be lacking in some areas today, the direction is there, they ar emaking improvements.
@vali20vali20vali204 жыл бұрын
@edward Google does not impose a direction on how Firefox is developed and how they do business. They pay them so that Google remains the default search engine, which is fine by me. I am not against Google, I am just against using them, and this applies to any other company, as the provider of all the services. Like, I do not mind searching with Google, it is a very good product, but Google offering a browser, storage, email, documents suite etc etc, that can become dangerous. Also, with search, they provide a very good product, like we all know how Bing never finds what we want, but Chrome to me offers nothing groundbreaking above Firefox so it is a no brainer to support Mozilla, not to mention their philosophy.

Once they give up and another entity becomes the default search engine, they will have a chance to change their mind only when the new entity gives up this privilege. That’s how it works. And as for Linux, I don’t get all this Microsoft aversion, what have they done specific here to be perceived as a threat? To me, they are merely a contributor, if that, and that’s it, I don’t think Linus takes suggestions from them now for any other reason than proper technical explanations.
@JohnnyForehead4 жыл бұрын
@@vali20vali20vali20 What MS did was threaten The Linux Foundation to withhold their "contributions" when they were reluctant to implement some closed source software which changes the whole dynamic of the original mission of open source. The Dissenter plugin was removed under pressure and Parlor was just nuked . Twitter was willing to risk alienating 75 million users in this current atmosphere of tech monopolistic power grab as the left pushes to control what you see, think, and who you associate with. I respectfully disagree. Firefox was more of an answer to Explorer's horrific security flaws of the day and was, I believe, the better choice of the day. Now, maybe not so much, but that's up to the individual to decide.

Cool! The last time I checked their GitHub repository, they didn't have any installers for Debian, nor Windows, and that was before I discovered Vivaldi, which I consider to be the Pale Moon of Chromium based Web browsers in terms of UI customisability, and now I use that in the rare case that a website specifically insists on using Chrome when I try to load it in Pale Moon or Firefox. I don't even use Edge, though, because it currently still feels too much like Chrome, right down to the lack of UI customisability options.

@Hunters Only 2 problems there. All data is anonymous and they don't sell data. Even so, it's something you can prompt out of if you don't feel like giving any diagnostic information. Which is what I recommend you do too, even if that data is anonymous.
@erwinjitsu_37064 жыл бұрын
@Hunters I have limited my google usage to youtube only. Search engine, browser and operating system all are privacy oriented. Unfortunately, for the most part, youtube is still the monopoly in video-sharing. Brave is open source. That means you as a user can go and look at the source code and tinker and code as you please. You may also fork it as another browser like ungoogled cromium is for chromium. Open source also means everything is open to the user, all calls and data leaving and entering is visible and as such it is impossible for them to take data without the user knowing. But I get it, Brave being registered in California it is still not trustworthy. All I'm saying is they so far have acted good.

@@TheRealDrWho as far as I know, the open-source Chromium project has nothing to do with Google. so vanilla Chromium browser is already "ungoogled" it's a case of Google taking something that already exists, and adding their spyware to it there's also an "ungoogled" Chromium OS if you're interested. but it's designed for x86 desktop and won't run Play Store apps because, again, it has nothing to do with Google or Android
